   Great food and service! What a find. Obviously very popular as a lovely buzz of happy customers about the place. All the staff were accommodating, friendly and helpful. Dog’s welcome in the bar where we ordered a full roast on a Sunday. Book ahead!

   The food is always good and the service warm and friendly . We were able to sit and relax with feeling of being rushed. We can heartily recommend this venue.

   This is a lovely setting and it was very busy. We have eaten there many times. The serving staff were very attentive and drinks arrived almost as soon as we ordered them, something that is not always the case in many restaurants. The food was average and we had to wait a long time for it. Maybe they were just having a bad day in the kitchen and it will not stop us going again.

   Always enjoy our visits to The Grouse and Ale. 4* instead of 5 only because two out of the three of the party are vegetarian and there is very limited choice on your menu. From memory I think there were only two vegetarian starters and only a single vegetarian main course (a risotto). The risotto was delicious, but I think you can do something to improve the menu choice for us vegetarians. As it’s nice to be able to choose from at least three options instead of feeling that we have to select the only one available as a main.

   Have been twice now, it is a lovely welcoming pub with very nice food (and roast dinner) and wonderful helpful staff.
