   The table side guacamole was only about half the size it used to be. The menu selections have been reduced dramatically. Two of our favorites, the pork chop dinner and Tampico chicken are no longer available. The supreme burrito tortilla was dry, difficult to cut and tasted as if it had been prepared earlier and reheated. There wasn’t much filling inside the burrito. The Passionfruit Shrimp were small but tasty. I advised our waiter I am allergic to pepper seasoning before ordering and asked if the Passionfruit Shrimp would come without pepper. He checked with the chef and said it would. My plate arrived with 6 small shrimp and no accompaniments. I had to ask the waiter for vegetables and rice. Later he brought me some cooked vegetables and a small dish of mashed potatoes without pepper. The service was just ok. It wasn’t the excellent, attentive service we had always received in past years. Disappointing.

   This is always a great restaurant to visit. We usually ask for outside deck seating and have always been accommodated. Highly recommend their Golden Margaritas, they are a favorite with our family!

   We always have loved eating here when we come to The Sands. Guacamole portion size was smaller. Beautifully decorated. It is a tradition. My fajitas were better for lunch in the resort. Like I said, it is tradition. That will always continue.

   Usually I am very pleased with the service but this time we were rushed. I have no idea why. There was no one waiting for a table. They came out with the chips and dips but did not describe the selection to us. A few minutes later they removed the plates and put down our main course. Four of us had menu items requiring tortilla shells. They gave us one container with a few corn shells even though we specifically requested flour. I was able to catch the eye of someone from the wait staff and he reluctantly exchanged them for flour ones. Once again we received one container containing a total of 3 wraps even though I explained 4 of us would need the wraps. He returned a few minutes later with another container . At this point we just gave up. One of our guests ordered the steak fajitas but was given chicken and beef instead. When she brought this to their attention another waiter insisted she was mistaken. He was not our waiter and had nothing to do with her order. All in all it was unsatisfactory evening.

   We were expecting a more authentic experience. Food lacked some flavour (guac albeit fresh & mole not spicy enough). Cocktails were tasty (appreciated the fresh pineapple juice). With the distinct taste and smell golf mezcal, I’m not sure there was much in my drink. Great service from staff and ambience was enjoyable.

   Salmon was overcooked, dry and flavorless. Mashed potatoes were barely warm. Chicken and steak fajitas were served without beans or rice. Service was very slow. There appeared to be only 2 servers working in the large dining room. Loud background noise. Very disappointing. This used to be such a good restaurant.

    German and Sergio, our waiters on separate occasions, were phenomenal - so friendly, hospitable, attentive and fun. Sisal is usually our first dinner after checking in at the Royal Sands. There’s a certain quality to the place that makes us feel immediately at home and in for a treat!
