   Came here for the happy hour thanks to my Facebook algorithm that kept promoting the Hawksmoor Happy Hour special, $25 steak & frites! It was cooked to my liking and though simple it was lean yet tender, not tough or chewy as most lean meats can get. And it had a good charred beefy flavor to it. It is a 28 dry aged steak that is cooked to order over hot coals. Paired with crispy, fluffy potatoey beef tallow fries and you have one of the best valued happy hour menu item ever!

   Sometimes the Facebook algorithm nails it and targeting me to go to Hawksmoor for their Sunday Roast was spot on. The roast with sides was an exceptional meal. Wonderful flavors and beautiful presentation. Our server, Berto, was fantastic! They made excellent suggestions for starters and wines to pair with each course. I only wish we saved room for dessert and tea. Highly recommend and will definitely return.

   Brought a friend here for her Birthday. She used to live in London and misses being able to go to a proper carvery. We did the Sunday Roast and we were all in heaven. The food is spectacular, and the service is stellar. Every member of the staff was friendly and welcoming. I can’t wait to go back. Oh, and I had some of the best cocktails in the city!

   I dined with a party of seven, including one vegan, two pescatarians, and the rest carnivores. While the restaurant had a pleasant ambiance, its menu was quite restrictive. Our waitress, who was noticeably rude, informed us that all dishes—except for steaks—were premade, meaning substitutions were not an option. Most sides and cocktails contained either dairy or meat, severely limiting choices for those with dietary restrictions. As a vegan, my only options were sautéed spinach and a salad. The pescatarian entrées included monkfish and lobster. While the atmosphere was enjoyable, the unaccommodating menu and unpleasant service made it a disappointing experience for non-carnivores or those avoiding dairy.

   Hawksmoor was amazing! The Hawksmoor Martini is the best martini I’ve ever had. The scallops are SO GOOD. We had the Sunday roast which was perfectly cooked (pink) and all the trimmings were delicious. Highly recommend!

   Overall, the experience left my wife and I feeling unappreciated. The meal started off on a high note. The server came over quickly, was friendly, and procured our drink order with lightning speed and took our appetizer order. It was a downhill trajectory from there. It was apparent our server was VERY busy and had a large amount of tables. It took a long time, over 20 minutes for the oysters to arrive and our server did not check on us during this time. The oysters were awesome, but no attention from service. A while later our server came back and took the main order. Similar theme here, food was good, but took much longer than expected and server did not check in on us. We were on the fence about ordering deserted to the long waits and lack of attention, but decided to do so because it was my wife’s birthday. I believe an error was made in the kitchen because the table next to us received a birthday desert, and commented they were appreciative of the thought but said they did not have a birthday. Our dessert came, and again no check in from the team. We wanted to love this experience but couldn’t due to the service. We couldn’t help but compare to other Chicago steakhouse experiences where we are typically made to feel special. We just felt like a side thought here.
