Led by chef Kari Shaughnessy, the team breaks down whole animals, pickles vegetables, bakes sourdough, and crafts a simple but ambitious menu that makes it a standout in the region. The restaurant even snagged a James Beard Awards nomination in 2024, shining a spotlight on McMinnville's culinary bounty.

Philosophy

An enriching culinary experience, we set out to create delicious dinners while following a strict ethos on sourcing. We hold close relationships with all of our farmers and ranchers, making a uniquely personal menu. Dishes change weekly based on what is available on the farm and in the larder. While everything is sourced in a tight radius, the flavors are inspired by our travels and memories.

    We are local to McMinnville and decided to treat ourselves by visiting Hayward on our date night. Being parents, it is always nice to find local gems like Hayward. And let's be honest, Hayward qualifies as a regional gem in our book. The fresh made noodles in the pasta were amazing and the sauce was bonkers good! We are excited to try the summer menu when the time comes! Congrats to the chef and staff at Hayward. You deserve all the success and rewards that come with doing the amazing job you do!     Amazing food and drinks. The kickback experience was fun but the only negative is that you have to sit at a picnic table with no seat backs while trying to enjoy a lengthy tasting menu.

    Hayward is a 10/10 experience. A truly unforgettable meal start to finish that I will be thinking about for some time to come. Cannot recommend it more highly.

    Some offerings are great, while others are mediocre. Dined here twice with same experience. Wine list is not great. Probably will not go back.

    Such a delicious dining experience! The 4 of us at the table had The Kickback. So. Much. Excellent. Food!! Every plate was a new taste experience and there was not one thing any of us didn't rave over! I highly suggest diners save their $$ and wait until you can order The Kickback. It actually is a good value for all the high quality food served. Our server (blonde hair...) was delightful and helpful when suggesting wines to compliment the courses. I asked if it was possible to slow down the plates arriving so we could savor each dish, and they so kindly obliged. All out fantastic!!

    A wonderful experience! The staff from front of house to the chefs were high energy and attentive to curating the most amazing experience for their patrons. The food was exceptional, delicious, and the attention to detail to take care of the timing of the plates was impeccable. The food was spaced in a way that created a great dining experience where you were never waiting on food, nor ever overwhelmed with too many plates at once.

    If you really, really love eating, eat here. Hayward's environment & staff= welcoming, unpretentious, comfortable, roomy, attentive, skilled, friendly. Hayward's food= creative, clever, adventurous, whimsical, surprising, healthful, scrumptious. We wanted to lick our plates clean.
