Joel Ornelas is the CEO and creator of the Tintoque project. Originally from Puerto Vallarta, with more than 20 years of experience in the gastronomic world, he has worked at some of the most renowned fine-dining restaurants in Mexico, Spain, and England. Mexican cuisine and nostalgic flavors, using local ingredients and international techniques, make up a menu that changes with each season. All the creations are interpretations of what Chef Joel Ornelas considers to be delicious, fun, and original food. Chef Héctor Leyva is a lover of travel and an adventurer in Mexican cuisine. Born in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, a place rich in diversity, Leyva discovered a passion for cooking that led him to complete his studies at the Culinary Institute of Mexico. He then went on to explore many areas of gastronomy, drawing inspiration from pre-Hispanic Mexican roots, as well as European, American, and Asian influences. Leyva has experienced many regions of Mexican cuisine, having lived in different cities across the country from coast to coast—Los Cabos to San Miguel de Allende, Puebla to Querétaro, and finally, Puerto Vallarta. But his travels extend far beyond his home country, including many stops at global companies such as Four Seasons, Belmond, and The World Residences at Sea, to name a few. Ultimately, he opened his own restaurants, Hector’s Kitchen and Zicatela, in Punta de Mita.

Nacho is an excellent server. Made the dinner great. Food was phenomenal. I’d like a few wine selections not over $100.

Food and services were amazing. Gordita and hummus appetizers were very delicious. Main course of Lamb, short rib and Octopus also very tasty. Only disappointing thing was when we looked at going there several posts suggested getting there and go to the beach club but we were denied access.

Service and waiters were warm, friendly and very knowledgeable! The food was fantastic, wish we had more choices for vegetarian options when it came to the main course but the options they had were very good! The ambiance was wonderful with a beautiful ocean views!

Place is ok. I feel like it’s definitely overpriced for what it is. I think I would have felt differently about our overall experience if we weren’t asked to leave a cash tip on top of the 15% included “Service Charge” on our bill. That was really sketchy and confusing. Definitely felt like a scam to be asked to leave cash separately be the staff. They told us that the service charge (which was $78 of our bill) goes to the beach club which honestly isn’t our issue and made us feel weird at the end of our meal. I don’t think we’d return. I’ve heard better things about other local places without the hassle.

Very poor experience. After I ordered a pre-dinner drink and my entree, I did not see my waiter again the entire evening until I had to find him to get my bill. Perhaps they don’t welcome solo travellers but it was very disappointing. Ended up having water with my entree. Beet salad was really good. Braised short rib was dry & underwhelming. I had even asked to speak w sommelier to order a bottle of wine. I look to go somewhere local each time I come to Punt Mita. I won’t be coming back here.
