  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
  • Good for business meals
House of Lasagna's warm décor--amber walls and colorful framed poster art--provides a handsome showcase for some of Midtown most value-packed trattoria dishes. The Lasagna Bolognese, for instance, is $25 and Pan Seared Salmon the most expensive entree at $32. Neighborhood business clientele, local residents and travelers from nearby hotels and have keep this place hummming for 40 years.

As far as lasagna goes, it’s hard to recommend their lasagna dishes, we had two different ones (traditional bolognaise and a chicken one) and both were quite plain and tasteless, no seasoning and next to no garlic and herbs. My wife even commented on how plain the bolognaise was and it lacked seasoning, and she loves plain with a little seasoning, so that’s saying something. To be honest it has to be one of the worst lasagna I’ve ever eaten. I’m from Australia, a little unknown town to many in Oz , Ingham in North Queensland, which the population consists of about 80% Italian/Sicilian so for 54 years of my life, I’ve eaten and made more lasagnas than I care to remember. We enjoyed a lovely bolognaise lasagna at a small Italian restaurant in Santa Monica (Bruno’s) last week compared to these 2 dishes. The Italian bread and butter dessert was not so great either, quite dry. The staff were quite friendly and service was very good, just a pitty we didn’t enjoy the lasagna’s, I don’t think I’d give them a second chance as there are so many Italian restaurants to choose from in NYC, I would strongly suggest try others.

Hi David-I think both of us-having grown up among Southern Italians and Sicilians-have an appreciation of the amazing ingredients in their toolbox: ricotta, mozzarella, garlic, oregano, basil, crushed red pepper flakes, spicy fennel sausage, etc. Alas, as good as they are when properly combined and prepared, none of these ingredients belong in an authentic Lasagna Bolognese. This dish, from the City of Bologna achieves its greatness from the sublime & subtle layering of the rich Bolognese meat sauce, silky bechamel sauce & delicate pasta sheets. Given your preference for Southern dishes, our Sausage & Pepper Lasagna with Red, Green and Yellow Peppers, Sweet & Spicy Sausages, Ricotta, hand-shredded Fresh Mozzarella with our Garlicky Marinara would be right up your alley!

Had an 8:30pm reservation on NYE 2025 & we were greeted by friendly staff who sat me and my partner upstairs in a quiet little space for two which was so cute and comfortable. The staff was very attentive and our food and drinks were served with little wait time. The Old Fashioned cocktails were great. For an appetizer we ordered the fried mozzarella which was delicious and the breading was light and perfectly cooked. For our main course, we ordered the Lamb Lasagna & Short Rib Ravioli. Both dishes tasted so fresh and full of flavor. I felt like I was eating food prepared by a grandmother who cooks with lots of love. I’m from CA, but I now have a new favorite restaurant whenever I come back to NYC! Thank you House of Lasagna staff for making our NYE dinner a fun and special experience. I would definitely recommend others to visit this cute and quaint restaurant!

Very good service and accommodating of a 6 person group. I would recommend getting a reservation. We loved all of the food and would go back next time we visit New York. You must get the bruschetta. It was light and refreshing. The tomatoes were fresh.

What a great place to eat. Being from out of town you just want to find a place that is reasonably priced and good food. I found the House of Lasagna just the place. I would return.

Food was very good, service was excellent and warm; my older daughter deemed it the best restaurant she'd ever been to because the staff were so friendly and welcoming to kids.
