Opened in 2011, Indigenous has earned a reputation for being an inspirational and educational restaurant. For years, Indigenous has been known as one of America’s top restaurants, renowned for its passion for food, the community, and the planet. Indigenous’ menu of seasonal American cuisine changes progressively throughout the year based on peak ingredient availability. With a focus on sustainable seafood, we work closely with local fisherman, artisans, and farmers to maintain the highest quality. At Indigenous, we are always working our best to create a better food system. Owner Chef Steve Phelps has been a James Beard Foundation Semi Finalist for Best Chef South in 2014 & 2015, an Ambassador for Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch Blue Ribbon Task Force, and a founding member and Chef for the EDF Coalition for Sustainable Aquaculture.

    I had great expectations to finally dine at Indigenous. Atmosphere, service, coziness and most of the food was up to expectations. One exception was the pistachio falafel. It is a mishmash of flavors, none of them authentic, that doesn’t work together and comes cold.

    wonderful food, not keen on swordfish or cobia being a FL girl. But loved the Key West shrimp and the potatoes . Plus the mushroom app and of course the parm beignets 😍

    Food was absolutely delicious and the ambiance was such a vibe! My only nit pick was the limited menu selection and only having a beer and wine selection. Regardless, i like the idea of a new menu each week. I would definitely come back! Highly recommend this culinary experience!

    Beautiful setting, cute neighborhood and lovely ambiance EXCEPT the music was too loud! Our waitress was knowledgeable and attentive— much appreciated. We enjoyed her descriptions and recommendations. OMG the Parmesan beignets are incredible and the roasted mushrooms sublime as appetizers. We ordered a variety of mains including the pistachio falafels, burger, cobia fish and shrimp. Dessert was the panna cotta and ice cream with butterscotch magic shell— awesome! BTW I mixed up our reservation time but they were gracious and accommodating about it. Highly recommend and we will return!
