Jack Stack Barbecue originated in Kansas City in 1957, by Russ Fiorella in a traditional storefront barbecue, with a modest selection of 5 or 6 items. Jack Fiorella, the eldest son, worked with his father until 1974 when he decided to branch off and start Fiorella's Jack Stack of Martin City.

To stand out in the competitive KC barbecue scene of the mid 1970's, Jack and Delores, began cooking with Gourmet Hickory Wood and created the most extensive barbecue menu in the country. The menu included Certified Angus Beef steaks, tender chicken, award-winning lamb ribs, and mouth-watering sides like Hickory Pit Beans and Cheesy Corn Bake.

Our server was absolutely outstanding. This group eats out regularly and fairly often at Jack Stack. This is one of the best servers we’ve ever had. The food was good and she made several suggestions that enhanced our meals. Two of us ordered carry-out meals in addition to our dinners and she handled those perfectly too. We will be back to be sure.

Food was not very good. First time ever very disappointing for my fav BBQ. Ordered chicken and didn’t have any breast all dark meat. Server didn’t inform until after dropping off food. They offered to add an entree so substituted burnt ends. They were horrible all fat. Food was just not good overall and for the price just not a great experience.

Jack Stack at the Freight House is our favorite barbecue restaurant. The food quality is the best, the BBQ beans are amazing, the have so much meat in them you could almost make a meal, the coleslaw is the best anywhere. The ambience at the Freight House is simply amazing.

As always, the food was amazing! We had a rotating crew of servers that were all amazing. My only gripe was being sat on the heated patio. The heaters were very hot, the chairs were uncomfortable and the table was so big for 4 people that you really had to get up and walk to the other side to move food around. Next time I’ll remember to just speak up about that! Other than that, another GREAT dinner at Jack Stack.
