Housed in a glorious Southern mansion in the heart of Music City, Jimmy Kelly’s continues to be the standard by which all American steakhouses are measured. Founded in 1934 while the country was in the throes of the Great Depression and just one year removed from the repeal of prohibition, Jimmy Kelly made a promise to himself and his diners. Simply put, he would serve a great steak, a generous portion of whiskey and insure the service was always attentive. Making good on that promise has been the cornerstone of the restaurant’s success and enabled it to survive and flourish. Now over 80 years later and operated by the third generation of Kellys, it has earned a reputation as one of the grand old restaurants not only in Nashville but the entire southeast. Come anytime and enjoy a great steak and a generous portion of whiskey!

Always a lovely experience. Food was yummy. Carla was fantastic, as always! Seated by the kitchen was not optimal at all... noisy, busy, and distracting from the experience.

Thanksgiving day. Only two options for main course. Ran out of prime rib. Service was really slow. Not a good experience

First experience here and we like the searing and overall ambience very much. Wait staff was friendly and looked professional. Now to the food…they offered turkey or prime rib for Thanksgiving, and although we could have gotten a steak (and probably should have) we both opted for the prime rib. The meat came barely warm. Mine was medium rare and although prime can have some fat, mine was half fat. It was tender and very juicy though. My wife’s was well done and looked and tasted like an overcooked pot roast butt end. It was not at all like any well done prime we’d ever eaten. Overall, for an establishment we especially went to because of how long it’s been around and the prices were very high, but we thought we’d try it and it was just good but not great at all. Probably never go back for the food!

We visited for the Thanksgiving meal. Our prime rib was tough and over cooked. Our waitress was very sweet but overwhelmed so we had to ask multiple times for things we needed like more drinks. The cloth hung between rooms was definitely not effective as the neighbor on the other side kept encroaching until they finally turned our table almost over luckily my husband caught it but our drinks were spilled.

Menu stated sides would be served family style and that was not true. Each person only got to choose one side. This is Thanksgiving we all wanted a little of everything and that is what it said on the menu. Food and service was great as normal.

Thanksgiving dinner was very good. The only thing that did not measure up was the bread pudding. It was served cold with ice cream on top. I would not have ordered that if I had known it wasn't going to be at least warm.

Our server was excellent. The food however was terrible. We both on the Thanksgiving Prime Rib and it was under seasoned and both slices were the toughest prime rib we have ever been served. The pecan pie was just absolutely horrible. Such a huge disappointment for a Thanksgiving meal
