Joeys in Kelowna recently reopened, and the new design looks good. Fitting for the restaurant brand. But the overall experience we had with the service and food could use some refining, to better meet the standard that I expect from Joeys and which I believe Joeys stands for. The food is hit and miss. It shouldn't be. Some of the dishes, like the Szechuan Chicken Lettuce Wrap, Peanut Prawn Curry, and the Classic Steak (except the fries), hit just the right note. But other dishes were uninspiring. While the beef in the Hand-pressed Burger was very tasty, the burger itself and, like with the steak, the fries that it came with were uninspiring. The fries look like McCain’s from Superstore, and don’t taste much different. The Chicken Parmesan was tasty, but the pasta overcooked and the dish was dry. The fish tacos were good, but terribly over-salted. Service is good, but it could be more refined, which would be fitting for Joeys. How to put plates in front of guest, when to clear a table (not when half the people are still eating), bringing the ordered appetizer before the entrees…it’s small things like that which make the difference between good and great. I want to rave about Joeys, because it has the potential, but I can’t.

My husband and I enjoyed a lovely meal tonight, herb crusted salmon and the grilled chicken club. The food was great and the service was top notch! I love the new high ceilings & openness from their renovation. Highly recommend!

Great dinner good food a little noisy and when you first arrive its tight if a lot of people , they offered champagne but took a while to get it

New renovations just created a huge open space that is too noisy and see no benefit at all. Food is smaller amounts and the Market Salad that was supposed to have strawberries had only one slice and a couple of beet cubes and a bit of corn. Very disappointing. The server was new and she was poor actually. When entering the order etc in the tablet she hovered over the table while she slowly entere it, then left. She did not clear dirty dishes and when we were trying to get her attention for the bill, she was pouring water?? My friend and I have been to Joey's many times and it used to be one of our favorite places. Not any more. Probably will not return.
