   Parking isn't too far, you do walk down a stairwell so it's not disabled friendly. No coat check. Very nice ambiance, chairs are comfy and sturdy. Good food selection, I hope it rotates. Delicious handcrafted drinks with a kick, great value! Good food, good portion size. This is about a 2 hr dining experience, great friendly service.

   We have had great experiences here in the past with service and cocktails. But last Saturday we had to wait for over 30 minutes after our reservation time to enter and then over 30 minutes to order cocktails. We would have gone somewhere else had we known that it would take over an hour to be served.

   Great place to go to chill and kick it with friends if you aren't ready to go home just yet. This was my second time coming to Johnny's, it was a nice, chilled, relaxed spot. My friends and I enjoyed the atmosphere. We stayed until it was about to close, which always indicates good times and good conversations. The wait staff is amazing and the bartender (gentleman) was funny and very charismatic.

   I was very disappointed with my visit due to poor service and an unwelcoming atmosphere. I wasn’t greeted upon arrival and had to flag someone down to be seated, despite the restaurant being nearly empty. My waitress was focused on another table and only came to me twice…never checking on my food, offering a refill, or asking if I needed anything. When I was ready to pay, I had to get another waitress since I was on a tight schedule. My original waitress later apologized, but by then, my mind was made up; I won’t be back. The dark, uninviting atmosphere only added to the underwhelming experience.

   If you're looking for a hidden gem in Royal Oak, Johnny’s Speakeasy is it! From the moment you walk in (after finding the entrance, which adds to the fun), you’re transported back in time. The vibe is cozy and intimate, with dim lighting, vintage decor, and a cool, laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re in on a secret. The cocktails? Phenomenal. The bartenders really know their craft, and every drink is made with precision and top-quality ingredients. I had an old fashioned that was probably the best I’ve ever had—smooth, balanced, and packed with flavor. If you’re not sure what to order, just tell them what you like, and they’ll whip up something amazing. The food was just as impressive. You can tell they put a lot of thought into the menu—everything was fresh, flavorful, and plated beautifully. Service was spot on—friendly, attentive, but never overbearing. They really make you feel welcome, and you can tell they love what they do. Overall, Johnny’s Speakeasy is a must-visit. Whether you’re looking for a unique date night spot or just want to grab some next-level drinks with friends, this place delivers. Just make sure to book a reservation ahead of time because it fills up fast. I’ll definitely be back!

   Been going to Johnny’s for over 5 years and this might be the first time I’ve been on a Saturday night. For the first time coming here the vibe felt different with music, clientele and service from staff. Definitely a much younger vibe than what I’ve seen and experienced in the past. I.e. before this visit, it was more jazzy vibes, relaxed and attentive and friendly staff, while this time on a Saturday evening, it was very loud with club music like I’m at a party while staff was not attentive and host reminded us before our two hour time limit was up that we need to leave for the next group. The host could have said the same thing in a much friendlier manner but she choice to be rude. It also bothered me that if it weren’t for the staff being slow with service maybe we would not have been so close to the two hour limit. Words of advice: If you want to be strict with your 2 hour dining limit then you better have the staff to handle the service too. The inability for the staff to come back and check if we had our glasses of water not empty and even after trying to get the staff attention at least three times to the point we have to try and waive them down to finally get service is unacceptable. Other than the bad experience with staff that evening, I’m glad whoever is the chef this time has made the food not overly salty, so that’s a positive. We also tried their mock tails for the first time and it was essentially just sugary taste which is disappointing considering their signature cocktails are usually amazing.

   I've been to Johnny's several times before, however, it has been several years. My experience this time around was very disappointing. We decided to go for date night this past Saturday because we wanted the ambience of a quiet place with delicious food and good drinks. We always sit at the bar because we like watching the drinks being made and can sit next to eachother to have a nice conversation. The food and drinks didn't disappoint, the noise level unfortunately overshadowed the evening. We found it very difficult to hear what the bartender was asking us and it felt more like a restaurant in a basement than a speakeasy. We won't be coming back, as the gimmick of a speakeasy is lost on the lack of respect from the patrons and it's just another restaurant.

    The craft cocktails are incredibly creative and put on a show, their whisky list is one of the largest I’ve seen at 4 pages long, and the food is amazing, with portions large enough to share! We will be back!
