Featuring our entire menu which includes a variety of southern flavors to savor including Deviled Eggs, Pimento Cheese & Biscuits, Seven Hills Strip Loin, Autumn Olive Farms Pork Chop, and a Seafood Gumbo. Complete your meal with our signature Chocolate Peanut Butter Bacon Bar or a Bourbon Coconut Lane Cake. Restaurant Week special includes one Entrée and one starter or one dessert per person. King & Rye is very good. I was at the restaurant with my friend for brunch and I was pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and the service was very friendly. It is located inside the Alexandrian Hotel and afterwards, guests can enjoy the hotel lobby and the fireplace to keep them warm.

We were there for brunch which is a different menu than weekdays. It’s a very short menu focused on southern-themed egg dishes built around very heavily-seasoned cayenne potatoes. They’re crispy and could be quite good but are so heavily crusted in seasoning, they overpower everything on the plate. Nobody at our table had more than one or two and I looked around and noticed that was the case at other tables as well. The cinnamon roll was good, not as good as promised, and is served hot in a skillet. There is no fruit of any kind on the menu unless you count the orange juice, which is meh. Seems like they could up the game to at least have fresh squeezed juice. They do an excellent job of scrambling eggs. Seriously, they were exceptional. Perfectly cooked, tender and served with fresh chives. The breakfast sandwich looked nice. And the skillet breakfast is quite large, but is mostly potatoes. Service was fine, kind of brusque, but they’re a smallish place and need to turn tables.

The food was great as was the service but it was freezing in the restaurant. Definitely need to do something about the cold air coming in from the doors at both ends of the restaurant.

We had a lovely family dinner at King & Rye. The Brussel sprouts, roasted vegetables, and Macaroni and cheese were delicious. The kids enjoyed the hamburger and we enjoyed the steak.

The Virginia Breakfast was just what I wanted! Good Virginia cured ham, perfect sunny-side-up eggs, creamy grits (by request) and a flaky biscuit with jam. The coffee was fresh, hot, and plentiful. My server was charming and efficient. True to the slogan, this is simple food, done well. Walking down to the waterfront on a beautiful morning and back to the King St. station was a good way to work off some of those brunch calories!

Greeted with a welcoming smile by Leo the manager and the host manning the reservation desk. We were seated promptly. Sean our server was amazing. The restaurant was extremely busy due to the Scottish Walk Parade. Sean was very attentive, our food arrived quickly. Virginia breakfast and my white egg omelette was delicious. Leo, Sean and Gretchen are a awesome team. Thank you. We will see you next year!
