Expected a much higher calibre of cuisine at these prices, and from a chef with Michelin star pedigree. The offerings were by the numbers––nothing extraordinary.

Food portions are on the small side. Preparation and quality were not up to par...the halibut served to us tasted fishy and was rubbery, signs of overcooking and/or using frozen, not fresh fish. The room is small and tightly packed with no sound absorption and my dinner partner and I strained to hear each other at a small 2-top. And a "kitchen appreciation" fee of 5% was added to the bill...the highest I have yet seen and a bit egregious at these high prices for small portions. We will not be going back.

What divine seafood cuisine -- Koast's menu and execution is wildly creative but also deeply accessible. This is the neighborhood seafood bistro I've been waiting for -- with the most attentive and caring service!! I love all the raw bar options (the salmon was insane!) combined with cozy comfort food elements. A perfect combo for all different palates and dietary restrictions. I cn't wait to come back again immediately!

I did not order pastas, entrees or sides—only several raw & lightly cooked plates. Oysters, sea bream, yellowtail, salmon and sablefish were all wonderful. I would order them all again. The sommelier recommended 2 wines (by the glass) that we were very happy with.

Last night we had our second ever dinner at Koast to celebrate our daughter’s birthday and dare I say it got even better? Hells to the yes. Run to get a reservation. Service is excellent. And the dishes are imaginative and unique to any other seafood joint you will have in LA. Plus, the beverage menu is top notch. We love pretty all of everything we have ordered but to narrow it down: Tuna Crudo w/Brown Butter Chips & Dip Caesar Salad Scallop Cake Crab Dip XO Angel Hair Octopus (we order two, we love it so much) Burger Steak Old Bay Fries Loup de Mer (anything with their buerre blanc sauce is divine) All of the desserts! We can’t wait to go back. So happy that Koast exists now. And they have valet parking. Hurray!
