   La Maison Navarre is one of our favorite spots. Typically we go for brunch which is always great. Last night we had dinner. Starting with wine that our server Eric recommended. It was very nice! Next the charcuterie, which we looked to Eric for suggestions. Escargot and carrot soup for apps. Excellent! Then the entree…pork stuffed with sausage and apple…absolutely delicious! Dessert and coffee topped off the evening. Our server was great and it’s always a pleasure to visit with Chef. Quiet, not rushed, friendly people and fabulous food…how can you go wrong?! Really small space so make a reservation!

   Went during restaurant week. Everything was exceptional. Appetizers we had were escargot and the one board.  The escargot was not overly oiled or smothered in garlic yielding, a pleasant taste. The contents of the one board were complementary. For entrées, the duck confit was cooked to perfection. The haddock ratatouille was superb. The fish was perfectly flaked and went well with the seasoning in the sauce. Desserts were equally as exceptional. We had a white slightly sweet wine recommended by Eric which paired well with both of our meals.

   We've been diners of La Maison Navarre for years, enjoying desserts and crepes in the cafe but never dined in the wine bar and it was nothing short of spectacular. From the service to the food and everything in between it was a wonderful evening, and we will be making another reservation very soon!

   The star of the fall menu is pork roulade. Tender pork with a filling of sausage,apple,dried cherries, finished with a cider gravy. Delicious! As always a wonderfully pleasant meal. Can’t wait to see what winter brings! Thank you chef!

   This place was a delight! We went for Saturday brunch right at 10am. It was empty and except for us at first and then as time went on the room filled up. The restaurant is up the stairs from the first part of the restaurant with its own more intimate feel. The cocktails and food were all unique with an authentic French feel while including some of the basics! Our party had a great time interacting with the staff as well. It was a very busy weekend and they were all so nice and pleasant to talk to! I would definitely add this to my list for if we go back to Portsmouth again!

    We thoroughly enjoyed our meal at La Maison Navarre. The food (truffle mousse pate, pork roulade, and duck confit) was excellent, the wine selection was attractive, and it was a pleasure to chat with the chef, Gretchen. Our waiter (I think his name was Eric) was helpful and responsive. All in all, it was a pleasurable experience, and we had the feeling we were dining in a French bistro.
