Come dine in this beautifully restored Uptown restaurant on Magazine Street and enjoy James Beard Award Winning Chef Justin Devillier's contemporary Louisiana Cuisine.

The La Petite Grocery name pays homage to the history of its home, a building that’s stood for more than a century. The original structure was built in the late 1800s and called the Central Tea, Coffee and Butter Depot. In 1908, a fire devastated the space and it was transformed into a full service grocery store. Later it was most notably a fine foods and butcher shop, VonderHaar’s Fine Foods until 1982. When La Petite Grocery opened in March of 2004, they similarly aspired to provide the neighborhood with exotic teas, locally roasted coffee, and fresh produce. By doing this, we hope to provide a dining experience that evokes nostalgia of old New Orleans. Reservations are preferred.

                                                  Friendly service - especially helpful in navigating the menu for our daughter who is allergic to nuts. Our cocktails were very good. The food was exceptional! Portions are smaller, but each dish so flavorful we savored each bite.

                                                  Food was good. Some dishes better than others. Crab beignet and French fries..excellent. Fish stew disappointing..not much fish, very spicy liquid. Lemon tart excellent. Service was good.Got very noisy by 6 pm. Go early if want quieter dinner. No kidmenu or bread served at table. Had glass break in grandson’s mouth. Concern from manager, but no compensations or ‘extra’ service.

                                                  Went for Saturday lunch. We had great, timely service and enjoyed several cocktails - French 75 and Old Fashioned. Both perfect. The blue crab beignets, turtle bolognese, and shrimp and grits were all fantastic. The burger was a great choice as well for any less adventurous diner.

                                                  It was a lovely experience to get lunch here. We enjoyed every single dish that we ordered. Our server was really helpful and sweet, she made it easier to handle our difficult toddler.

                                                  This is a sweet restaurant, and with a good atmosphere. The food was excellent - unusual but fabulous flavors. Every course was outstanding. Highly recommend.
