About this restaurant

  • Neighbourhood gem
  • Good for special occasions
  • Lively
The Louisiana French Creole use the term “lagniappe” to describe something that’s “a little something extra,” and that's exactly what chef owner Brian Grimley knows it takes to transform a dish from mere food into an experience you never forget. Inspired by the culture and flavors of New Orleans, Charleston and Savannah, Chef Grimley's Lagniappe- Amelia Island combines the traditions of the French Creole with unique twists on Southern culinary staples using only the freshest local ingredients. And should you wish to elevate your experience by imbibing one of the many cocktails on the menu, you'll choose from a range of both classic and new wave cocktails inspired by the eclectic spirit of the South.

We had a wonderful waiter Drew. He let us enjoy our happy hour drinks and then we were served the most awesome dinner we have had in a while. The preparation for our flounder was fantastic. Very creative chef.

My dearest mother’s birthday was today. And all she wanted—aside from eternal youth and the return of “real” television—was to be taken to Lagniappe for dinner. All she wanted was fish and to be serenaded by the restaurant’s songbird/server extraordinaire, Crystal. And serenaded she was. Crystal didn’t just serve us—she performed. With vocals smoother than the butter on our dinner rolls and more charm than a Southern debutante ball, she turned an ordinary dinner into a full-blown moment. My mother was glowing. My father looked like he was reconsidering his life choices. I just wanted to know when Crystal’s mixtape drops. Now, the food. I had the Tex-Mex special: carne asada gorditas. If I could write a love letter to those gorditas, I would. The meat was tender, deeply flavorful, and tucked inside those heavenly pockets of masa like it was being cradled by destiny. Messy. Glorious. I briefly considered licking the plate. My mother, birthday queen that she is, had the swordfish. Perfectly seared, subtly seasoned, and flaking apart with a gentle nudge of the fork—it was everything she wanted and then some. She was blissed out from first bite to last, basking in seafood joy only amplified when Crystal launched into a spontaneous serenade beside her. My father had the braised BBQ ribs. They fell off the bone with the elegance of a trust fund kid dodging responsibility. He didn’t speak for ten straight minutes. We checked to make sure he was still breathing—turns out he was just in a flavor-induced trance. The atmosphere was laid-back but full of personality—think cozy Southern charm with a splash of spice. The service was so on point it felt like they’d read our minds, and Crystal? She was the crown jewel of the evening. Funny, fast, attentive, and apparently able to break into song without warning. (Again, no live music—but Crystal is music.) Would I come back? Yes. Would I bring a crowd just so they can experience the wonder that is Crystal? Also yes.Five stars

I have been looking forward to dining at Lagniappe for a long time and I was not disappointed. The salmon appetizer was very different and just delicious, and the is no describing the soft-shell crab - well, sublime might do it. My server Taylor was lovely and attentive without being overbearing. The whole experience was just wonderful.

The food is fresh, and flavorful! We enjoyed shrimp and grits, crab cakes, gumbo and mac and cheese. All commented on how delicious and well seasoned it was. Reach entree was piping hot. The waitstaff offers excellent service even during busy times! What a delightful evening!

Our waitress, Stella, was the best ! From her greeting at the table to helping us with our drink and dining choices. Her professionalism, attitude, and knowledge, greatly enhanced our dining experience. It was our 38th Anniversary, and she surprised us with a delicious sweet treat after our meal was finished. The food was excellent from the soup and salad to the well prepared filet with garlic mashed, and asparagus. We will be back ! Thanks, Stella, for a wonderful Anniversary dinner.
