Le Colonial is always one of our favorite Gold Coast options when meeting friends from out of town. The beautiful location, lighting and ambience cannot be beat. We love sitting by the window. The service and food is always unusually good and carefully prepared asian as well.

The ambiance was lovely, creating a great dining experience. Every dish we ordered was delicious, with unique flavors and a delightful fusion of tastes. While the desserts weren’t the highlight, they had a light and subtle flavor that some might enjoy.

After 34 years... Still my favorite dining place! Though no longer "New" I always have great conversations and great food! What I love most about it is that they still have a dress code! A level of dining that is lost to Athliesure outfits or attending a dining experience where you are seated next to a person who looks like they are wearing pajamas and "bed head" attire I see elsewhere! Thank god for dressing for dinner!

The food here is outstanding, the restaurant is gorgeous and there is a very welcoming bar which could be a nice destination all by itself. The website is clear about their dress code. My observation is that this dress code is rarely followed. Dress nicely but gentlemen in jackets were a distinct minority. That said - I wear a jacket when I go as a nod to a great restaurant. The snapper is highly recommended. Limited wine lists and pricey. Our $55 bottle of Flowers Chardonnay was $170. Valet parking is directly in front or the restaurant Our server was outstanding. Expensive and worth it

"Our server forgot our drinks, and when we asked about them (since our food had already arrived), he just said, 'Well, I didn’t charge you for them, so don’t worry about it.' Instead of offering to correct the mistake, we had to go to the bar ourselves to get our drinks. Very disappointing service."

Food is flavorful and delicious in one of the most gorgeous restaurants in Chicago! The service is pretty good too, but at this level, there was a bit of clumsiness where front and back servers don't seem to understand where to move things to accommodate the plates they are setting down and water was spilled more than once. I'd recommend for either a nice quiet meal or fun evening if you dine in the bar where it's less sleepy, with a bit of pep in its step!
