Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducass

My husband, mother, son, and I enjoyed a very nice and relaxed Saturday evening at Le Yaca. The parking was plentiful, the host stand staff was very nice and welcoming, and our server and staff were terrific. This isn't for a loud crowd and I got a sense that it is a place for both celebratory dinners as well as just a good meal.

Le Yaca is my favorite restaurant in Williamsburg and has been for several years. The food and service are consistently good. Love their soups and the bread. For any special occasion, Le Yaca is my first choice.

We had a wonderful experience except that we were seated beside a large, noisy party.

Le Yaca is a beautiful restaurant that has clean, fresh linens, comfortable, welcoming as is each server and host and hostess. The food is delicious from the fresh, warm bread and butter, rich, flavorful and fragrant French Onion Soup, rich Crab Crepes to the Chocolate Mousse. The noise level was perfect-enough to quietly converse with my party, but loud enough to enjoy the celebratory atmosphere around us. We will definitely be back again!

Always a great meal at Le Yaca! Took a friend for lunch today who had never dined there. I we both had the fixed price 3 course offering. She had the Beef Wellington with the soup of the day. I had the salad with the Crab Cake entree. Both meals were absolutely delicious & beautifully plated. I like the fact this French Restaurant serves not only great food but good portions; not like some of the places that server small plates. My friend & I both took home our dessert for a perfect snack after dinner! Can't wait to go back again & my friend took pictures of our food & he's excited about visiting soon.

Le Yaca has a lovely ambiance, and the food tastes good. Our server Gayle was very kind and joyful. Our first visit was after recommendations from a friend, and they did not disappoint.

French onion soup is very flavorful without the gooey cheese common in most standard French Onion soup. Beef Wellington was tender with crisp pastry sauced with peppercorn sauce. Delicious. Seafood Coquille was loaded with seafood sauce with veloutte sauce gratined. Lemon mousse with almond crust and raspberry coulis was light fresh and a great finish to a delicious meal.
