Awarded One Hat by the prestigious Good Food Guide 2023, Lona Misa’s Latin fare and bistro dining collide against the norms of the classical medley you know of vegan and vegetarian dining. Gracias Madre, led by Executive Chef Diana Briscoe, pioneers plant-based Mexican cuisine, while Lona Misa, helmed by Shannon Martinez and Executive Chef Pamella Tomio, redefines Latin-inspired vegan fare. This collaboration offers a curated menu, blending both restaurants' flavours, starting with a cocktail on arrival. “SoCal to South Yarra” runs at Lona Misa from Friday, 21 March to Sunday, 30 March.

    Absolutely spectacular in every way! Food is stunning and vegan, so amazing! Interior is gorgeous, staff wonderful, reasonable priced, cannot fault! We had the most amazing evening!

    Decor is elegant, vegetarian menu is limited, food was okay but not quite up to the standard it should be to warrant the expensive prices. Sitting time is 1.5 hours and we had to ask to order food, service should be a bit faster if they're wanting to have people finished eating within that time frame. We never got asked to order dessert before being told to move to bar stools (there were plenty of vacant tables) so we left to eat dessert at Chapellis around the corner which is open 24 hours, quality traditional food, vibrant atmosphere and very friendly staff.

    The food for was delicious, but there were a few disappointing areas. The first wine requested was not available. We were offered a different wine, but were not able to have a second bottle as there was no more stock and we had to change to another. One of our party does not drink and we had to ask 4 times for the coke zero that was ordered. We were also very surprised when, towards the end of the meal we were starting to serve the "fish" stew when one of the wait staff came over and said that it was a dish that we had not ordered and gave us the option to that it could be taken away or added to our bill. We opted to have it taken away, and it was decided that what was already on plates could be left. I was astonished that this was the way a restaurant would choose to deal with their mistake.

    We recently celebrated an early family Christmas at Lona Misa, choosing the seasonal tasting menu. The food was a vegan delight beautifully presented and offering lots of new flavours and combinations. The service was excellent and the surroundings vibrant but comfortable. Highly recommended.

    The atmosphere is warm and inviting, reminiscent of a cozy family gathering. The standout dish was the Parrillada, it had a perfect blend of flavors that left a lasting impression. The seasonal kombucha was a delightful complement, offering a refreshing contrast. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, enhancing the overall experience. Unique to this restaurant is their emphasis on seasonal ingredients, which really shines through in each dish. The drink selection was varied and reasonably priced, making it easy to find the perfect pairing. I would definitely return to explore more of the menu. We've dined here several times and will undoubtedly return for more. It never ceases to delight us!

    I didn’t fly all the way from London just to eat here… But once I was here, I had to go. Truly delicious and beautiful food (the ‘calamari’ Thank you, thank you were a revelation) and so exciting to see how gourmet vegan cooking can be.

    As a vegetarian, it was great to be able to actually choose the dish I wanted and not have to settle for the only vegetarian option on the menu. Some of the guests weren’t vegetarian, and they equally enjoyed the dishes, surprised by the flavors and textures. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone, vegetarian or not – a great experience with delicious food.
