Maydanoz is an Aegean Turkish coast inspired bar/restaurant paying homage to regions vegetarian and olive oil driven casual meze bars. Managed by the team behind Efendy and Anason, Maydanoz is located in the middle of the revitalised Sydney CBD. Food The menu is based on produce driven delights of Aegean region of Turkey, rich in culture and variety of the produce, dairy, fish and lamb.
Most of the dishes are prepared ‘zeytinyagli’ style, olive oil poached vegetables served as part of a drinking feast. Imagine dolmas, sarmas and seasonal vegetables with plenty of fresh herbs of the area.
There is a special attention for natural and local Turkish wines from the coastline stretching from Gallipoli on the north to Denizli on the south. We also pride ourselves having a cocktail menu crafted by our head mixologist with special attention to regions produce, like Zumrut ( Emerald) made with bespoke gin and our namesake parsley as a base.

The atmosphere is beautiful. The coconut yoghurt dip was very bland as was the bean salad. Octopus was delicious and so was the leek dish. I felt it was mostly over priced for mediocre food

We had the fancy Vegetarian Feast with wine pairing option, and the king fish add on. Who would have thought a Vegetarian Feast with wine pairing is so tasty. Highly recommend for something that is completely different.

The biggest downside was at the start they us the two of us if we would like sparkling or still water, for which we opted still, and then were charged $12 for water to be poured from jugs into glasses. No mention of this on the menu or website. Felt like daylight robbery. Otherwise the dishes and drinks we had were delicious and the service was good.

The $99 tasting menu was good value, but the food was a bit monotone and lacked seasoning. I feel like the chefs weren't tasting the food. Turkish did should be vibrant and flavourful and this just wasn't either.

Excellent food, service. Fantastic variety and taste of amazing vegetarian food with quality service and lovely warm ambience. Would definitely go back!

Our food dishes were all delicious without exception. The French chablis was also delicious, but $35 a glass seems rather expensive.
