One can tell that Mellotone was a labor of love. The food is so delicious, and I was very pleased to find so many vegetarian dishes - sometimes it seems that breweries and food trucks forget that vegetarians enjoy beer also and are tired of pretzels and mac n cheese. The beers are very well-executed, and solid, traditional choices. Our server was attentive and the food arrived quickly. A very good value for the quality of food. There was a loud party behind us, so it's hard to judge how loud it might normally be. Overall, I would say Mellotone is a restaurant that serves in-house beer, rather than a brewery. The overall atmosphere I would describe would be detached, soothing and pretty but not necessarily drawing you in. Music has cool vibe, the decor reminds me of something you might find on the west coast. And that was my only disappointment. Taft was a beautiful building, rich woodwork, unique character, that has been pretty much made bland with beige and white tones and soothing music. This is not a place I might seek out before a game, but rather reserve for a dinner, and maybe that was their intention.

10/10, must try. My wife and I had dinner and were beyond impressed. Hands-down one of the best restaurants in Cincinnati. I was hesitant to go to a “brewery” for dinner, but this is NOT just a brewery. The atmosphere was elevated but not pretentious. The food was fresh, locally sourced, and delicious. I couldn’t believe the quality at such an affordable price. The menu was creative and artistic while maintaining comfort and simplicity. Way above its weight class. The beers were the best I’ve had since Colorado or California… maybe better. I HIGHLY recommend checking them out before there is a 1-2 month waitlist.

Beautiful building, great service, delicious food and drink! We went upstairs to watch the end of the game and were delighted to find a super cool bar up there. Can’t wait to go back.

We went with a larger party. Our server was fantastic- attentive, friendly, and efficient. The beer and cocktails were very good. We had ladkes as appetizers. They were outstanding- served with the best applesauce I’ve ever had! Ahi sandwich was delish, as were fries and mac and cheese. Chicken sandwich was rather bland and dry. Smash burger was fine but not a favorite. The olive oil cake was superb. We will definitely be back!

The food was better than average bar. Food thought everything was very well made noise level seemed loud, but you could hear conversation at the table.

The food was sadly disappointing. Burger patties couldn’t be more dry, seems like they were cooked 13 hours earlier in the day. Not sure why the fries had the texture of rubber, perhaps undercooked. Chicken sandwich mentioned “Caesar” on the menu but had some weird Sriracha aioli type sauce on it? Overall vibes are off. Location should be a taproom beer hall. Effort was made and that’s appreciated.

Food and service was good. It was a bit loud and the choice of music was not to my taste. It was a bit pricy for what you get.

Great experience! The redesigned space is comfortable and inviting, no small feat for a former church building. Food was exceptional - coconut soup, cucumber salad, tuna burger were all winners and the smashburger was perfection. Service was terrific too. Will definitely return.
