We had reservations at 9pm for my Fiancé’s birthday celebration. It was very crowded people waiting on a table, so I already knew we would be waiting for a while and that the reviews were true. After speaking with the hostess to inform her we are open to being seated outside, we were immediately seated. The service was quick, our waiter was friendly. They dropped my fiancé’s food when they brought it to us, but the manager comped the meal and the replaced it right away. The chips, guacamole, pico, cheese dip and salsa are sooo good. I had the beef filet and the lobster tail. The portions appear small but for the price it makes sense. I left full so I was satisfied. The steak could have been seasoned more but I ate it with the pico to add flavor. You can tell the restaurant is still new so we gave them a lot of grace. Overall, we decided we would definitely give it a try again once they are more established. But this would be the perfect happy hour spot. Shout out to our waiter, Angel for going above and beyond to make our experience better than it started.

We had reservations for 8:30 and didn’t get sat down til 9:00. Our waitress was nice but she wasn’t that attentive. Our food came out quicker than the drinks we ordered, by the time we got our drinks they were watered down. The food was really good though.

We visited Mexican Sugar Montrose for brunch yesterday to celebrate a special milestone. I treated him, hoping for a memorable experience, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations. From the moment we arrived, confusion set the tone. The hostess took five minutes to seat us without any communication, leaving us awkwardly standing at the front while she focused on the iPad. Despite seeing plenty of open, intimate seating options, we were eventually directed upstairs. Once there, we were seated at a small two-person table in the middle of several noisy, crowded sections surrounded by large parties. Not the cozy brunch vibe we’d hoped for. Service was slow to start, but we used the downtime to finalize our orders. I opted for the crab enchiladas, while he chose the breakfast quesadilla from the brunch menu. His portion size was generous—a definite plus. The food, however, was lukewarm upon arrival. The complimentary chips and salsa ended up being the highlight of the meal, especially the warm red salsa, which was flavorful and comforting. Drinks were a mixed bag. My guy thoroughly enjoyed his smoky tequila old-fashioned, but my Rojo red sangria was disappointing—it lacked freshness, arrived half-full, and was loaded with ice. On a brighter note, our server was wonderful. Despite being visibly overwhelmed, he was friendly, attentive, and apologetic, which we truly appreciated. Overall, the experience was underwhelming, with the inconsistent service, lack of ambiance, and food quality overshadowing the positives. Mexican Sugar has potential, but this visit didn’t quite hit the mark.

The service was not great at all besides the manager attending us because my sisters was served raw chicken. The reservation we made was at 8:30 and we didn’t get seated until 9pm. The drinks took forever to get to our table and we weren’t compensated for the wait time. Do not recommend.
