Mimi’s Bakehouse is a second-generation family business established in Edinburgh in 2010, when Michelle Phillips sold her family home to open a bakery café in Leith. We have gone on to build a local success story brand that gives people a ‘hug when they walk in the door’ as the original café has since doubled in size and the business has gained five more shops, a successful website selling cakes online and a concession at Archerfield Walled Garden. We also opened an industrial bakery in March 2020, out of which most online trade is produced for fulfilment. Mimi’s Bakehouse has become one of Edinburgh’s best-loved bakeries and an award-winning brand which is a well-known “feel good” place to visit, while remaining small enough to go the extra mile and try new things.
We serve brunch, afternoon tea, coffee and cake.

This is the first time I’ve been back to the Leith shop in a while and I have to say that will be my last. I don’t think the set up of the shop is a good plan - the seating lay out makes it feel cramped and the overall look of the place feels dirty. We ordered our usual order and the quality has went downhill. I ordered a cheese ploughman sandwich - the roll was stale, one slice of cheese and a little dollop of pickle. Did not warrant £11.00. My husband got the French toast which wasn’t much better the overall taste was pretty bland and the bacon was overcooked and fatty! The service wasn’t much better simple things like bringing cutlery over when the meal was served, had to chase several times. No one asked if we enjoyed our meal. Overall it felt like it is trying to cut costs. Definitely not value for money! Such a shame as we’ve been coming since you opened.

Given a gift voucher for Mimi's Bakehouse as a birthday gift. Booked a table through OpenTable without any problems.

I've been to Mimi's dozens of times before but this was my first visit since the cafe size was reduced, along with the menu. I had my usual French toast, which has always been a Mimi's speciality, but was hugely disappointed to discover that it's now made with brioche rather than proper bread, which means it's sweet rather than the savoury lunch I was looking forward to. I sincerely hope this isn't a permanent change - if it is then I think I'll be looking for an alternative for lunch with friends in future.

Mimis at Leith has reduced its menu offerings since it has also cut down the number of tables (they used to have two buildings and one has been converted/sold to a takeaway. This does impact the ambience somewhat as more people/covers appear to have been squeezed into the available space. That said the food was lovely as ever, service for drinks was a little slow (had to ask a few times for coffee and tea that was delayed). The ambience is nice with lovely, friendly team just a pity that the size of the place does seem to have lost it's overall "je ne sais quoi". (hence the service rating) Would still go but not with any more than 2/3 people (We had a family group of 6 and they did struggle a little)

Really disappointed when I visited with my daughter for birthday brunch. I ordered poached eggs avocado and mushrooms. The mushrooms were tasteless and swimming in oil. The eggs were cold and too much oil in the avocado. We have been for afternoon tea a few times previously but we won’t be going back which is a shame.

Really enjoyed the festive afternoon tea, lots of great savoury nibbles as well as delicious cakes. Very relaxed atmosphere and we weren’t hurried.
