   Great food as usual. Only downfall was that it was windy in the evening and they were not allowed to closed the shades on the patio. So it made for a chilly evening since the heaters could not keep up with the cool temperatures and the wind. One heater above us was also not functioning.

   We had been going to Nick’s restaurants for 15 years and they never disappoint to this day! Had the kost amazing meatloaf (nothing at all like a standard meatloaf, need to change the name) and my husband had the steak sandwich. Drinks and appetizers were perfect! .

   It was our birthday week as we are 7 days apart…and 4 years:) we love this place as the food is always great, the service outstanding and the prices fair. We were not disappointed and left with a wee chocolate cake to celebrate with champagne later! The salmon was perfect snd the seafoodstew Amazing!

   Basically great food! Sadly, the dessert was a hot fudge sundae that lacked hot fudge. When I requested more hot fudge they said they ran out! I tried to apply my $100 reward but nobody could figure out how to manage it and I now see it has disappeared. Yikes!!

    We love Nick’s! Over the past two decades, perhaps even longer, we have thoroughly enjoyed Nick’s, as well as South of Nick’s. We’d dined in Laguna Beach, Long Beach, San Clemente, Del Mar, and in our favorite location - Carlsbad, our home turf. One of our shared favorites is Nick’s delicious and healthy Bistro salad, which we have enjoyed so many times. I especially love Nick’s Chicken Piccata and order it often. My husband loves their Cioppino accompanied by their delicious, warm and toasty sourdough garlic bread. Last night was New Year’s Eve, and my husband once again ordered the Cioppino. He requested “extra toasting”, but unfortunately the bread wasn’t toasted to his stausfaction. Our server gladly returned it to the kitchen for additional toasting . . . Then, somehow, as we enjoyed our meal, they forgot about our bread. When we told our server, the manager came over, apologized profusely, assured us that the bread was coming soon and offered to cover our dinner. The many dozens of meals we have enjoyed at Nick’s have pretty much been perfect. I do hope that nick’s will reconsider making their French Onion Sloup in the more traditional fashion; not the purreed, creamed version, which is totally boring. I also hope they will consider bringing back their awesome, multi-layered lemon cake! It is dreamy, delicious, and absolutely a winner!
