The chicken dish was beautifully presented and very tasty. The only niggle was that I don’t like carrots or broccoli - I should have asked what the mixed veg were but the green beans were lovely. The chocolate vegan tart was really delicious and also beautifully presented. Once ordered the service was very prompt.

Let me start by saying that there were only two of us in whole restaurant, not their fault as it was only 18:00 when we sat down, it was a Sunday and England were playing at 20:00 in the Euros final. Having said that, you would have thought they would be super attentive but they were conspicuous by their absence the level of service was mediocre at best, and all the male staff were decidedly scruffy. The decor was tired, like most of the rooms, and we chose to sit by the window which may have been a mistake as there were lots of dead flies on the window sill. the view out of the window wasn't much better as they still hadn't tidied up after the Wedding party the previous evening. The starter and mains were not good, the "LemonGrass" infused Scotch egg had no hint of lemongrass it was lovely and crispy though, the MEDIUM steak was served well done, the bone marrow gravy was thin and smelled and tasted distinctly of gravy granules and the waitress missed a trick with the chicken as it doesn't come with vegetables and she failed to "upsell" us as we had not noticed until it arrived the garlic infused mash with the chicken was powdery not buttery and we suspect the garlic was out of a bottle or jar and not fresh. They did redeem themselves a little bit with the Pudding, Sticky Toffee, as I had requested a candle for my wife's birthday and when they brought it out it was decorated with "Happy Birthday" (which they presented upside down for some reason) and sang happy birthday. It was a very nice Sticky Toffee pudding. Overall I was not impressed seeing as we were the only ones in there you would have thought they could have got everything right.

Having waited over an hour for a simple sandwich and salad we were then bought the wrong food first then two salads instead of one! The restaurant was almost empty so how could the service be so slow and so wrong! My colleague had to go and ask where the good was, not good. When it arrived my sandwich was on dry bread, not great quality! We will Not use this restaurant again.

Disappointing Stayed at the Doubletree, ate in the on site restaurant Omnia. Reserved a table with OpenTable. No need very few patrons in the place. Some areas had lighting off and were closed. Waited, and waited at the ‘wait here’ sign. Moved to approach, told, someone would be with us soon…. Waited and waited. Not a great start. Ordered food. Lamb for 1 and Steak for 1. Food came. Similar style, and ingredient quality to Wetherspoons. Steak was poor, no sear, had the appearance of being cooked in a George Foreman grill..!! Little recourse, when the food was mentioned as sub par. Though what were they to do…? Re-cook… another meal, which would be similar in ingredient and cooking style. Very loud in the restaurant, odd for very few people, voices seemed to carry…. Steak and veg was 36GBP… Lamb was 32GBP…. When leaving, the waiter who had tried to ignore us most of the evening asked about the ‘experience’. I said it was disappointing, he said sorry and went to leave… There was a little pub just at the entrance of the hotel…. Well anywhere else…. Would be a better option…

Poor welcome from staff, we waited 30 minutes before receiving anything. No one offered us drinks on arrival. Table wasn't laid for our arrival

The beef in the beef bourguignon was very tough and the toasted bread that was served with it was a tooth breaker. The flavour was good but would have been nice to have some bacon lardons and shallots in it. They also forgot our wine and we had to ask again. Other than that it was ok it felt like a lot of money for the quality of the food that was served.

A very disappointing afternoon tea. It was my mothers birthday so wanted it to be special. There was no table set up for us , it was busy with conference people so not a good atmosphere. It was suggested we sat on a high table with stools my 89yr mother could not get up on one of those. After time spent moving chairs about we sat down only to find our chins touched the table. We moved ourselves once again rearranging tables and chairs to find the ceiling dripping water on my mother and sister. The carpet looked as though it hadn’t been hoovered for a month. I spoke with restaurant to see if we could move in there, a very sweet girl said she would find out and let us know, they couldn’t accommodate us but we eventually moved to a corner near the bar. The staff had no idea how to present an afternoon tea, my teapot lid didn’t match therefore the tea got cold, crockery was mix matched , the tables are normally set before you arrive. The afternoon tea arrived at this point you are told exactly what you’re eating but weren’t . The sandwiches were nice, the scones looked as though they were shop bought and the cakes were the size of sweets very small. We had to ask for more tea where staff should have come over and offered more tea. I think it would be a good idea for staff to have training in this area. A big disappointment all round.
