    We are from SoCal and know good Mexican food. This was fun and imaginative Mexican cuisine. And it was good to excellent dishes. Highly recommend the homemade guacamole and chips. Some tacos were just ok (the shredded beef) to very good (shrimp). The complimentary birthday dessert served was out of this world! Called the Carfe de Olla. Save room for this one!!

    Food was amazing! Service not so much. Waiter seemed bothered with questions and we sat at the table for over 30 minutes until he was ready to take our order.

    We had a table for 8 in a little niche and suspect that the tables in the open would have been much louder as it’s a bit packed. 90% of the food was delicious! Guacamole was stunning; diced tomatillos added texture and flavor without any heat in the mild version. Two of us that usually pass on guac were blown away. we had the brunch menu, and huevos rancheros had a salty queso fresco in cubes, which I had never seen like that. Huaraches with steak were fabulous, my daughter loved her lengua taco, which are hard to find on a menu. The caldo tlalpeño was only ok for me; I wanted it to be limey and mild like i remember from Taxco but it was more Mexico City style with chiles. The only disappointment was the churros; none of us loved them. Not enough cinnamon and a texture that was meh. There were some more exotic desserts like a multi layer chocolate pastel with flan and a fruited tres leches that maybe we should have tried.

    The classic margarita with tajin rim was the perfect drink. We each had something different & loved it. We had the Baja taco, chicken enchiladas, and chorizo tacos.

    Great Mexican restaurant conveniently located near the National Gallery of Art. Don’t miss the ceviche verde. Delicious!
