OK for a family meal. Not very attentative service. Food took ages. Steak was excellent and the seabass. The mozarella side for a main was way too salty. May try again, but sadly, there was actually no oysters and no fish soup! so maybe reciewing on the wring stuff. Starters were a bit odd actually. bettroot salad was composed of large chunks of beteroot. Not very creative. May go again.

Our first time at this place with friends visiting from abroad. The only pub with no fish & chips (they said they ran out). Limited choices of beers. Roast was lukewarm. The fish fingers from kids’menu looked like very industrial product served at a premium and were hard like stone. Overall, it felt several leagues below the pub next door which was fully booked for the occasion. Venue is good but service/food need substantial improvement.

Took the family for a late Sunday roast. Kids share fish and chips whilst wife and I both had roast beef. Fish (haddock) was decent but the hatter was very very rosh and a tad greasy. Unfortunately the beef (which the pub makes something of a speciality by aging its own beef) was very disappointing. Apparently the beef was an (almost) 80 day aged sirloin. Well you would never have guessed as it lacked any flavour at all. This might be due to the fact that, according to the waiter, the beef is slow cooked for about 7 hours at 30 degrees over night and then finished for service. We'll if that's correct then the beef was effectively sat in the garden for a summers afternoon, so little wonder there was none of that lovely roast beef flavour as the necessary maillard reation would hev never happened. Additionally the exterior was extremely dry. Seems that in their in house aging fridge they store beef that's already been broke down quite far as evidenced by the dry aging fillets which with little fat coverage appeared to be turning to jerky. This plus the lack of roasting might explain the disappointing lack of flavour. Finally, it appears that at 6pm on a Sunday the restaurant starts setting up for the next day. Unfortunately, even as the only guests in the room the waiter seemed to manage to forget us for periods of time inckuding forgetting to bring water and leaving us 20 mins between ckearning mains and ordering deserts (by which time mt wife and I coukd not be bothered). A shame telly as its a fab location and seems set up to be able to make something very good indeed.

Really enjoy coming to the Oyster Catcher. Really nice to sit upstairs with the views of the river and the surroundings. Was a bit disappointed by the lunch menu though - but fortunately, they were really accomodating and we ordered the salmon from the dinner menu - which was excellent. It would be good to have more choice in the day time on a Saturday as it was quite limiting. Food was really good though and service was excellent.
