We went here for my wife’s birthday after reading Mike Sutter’s review of the top-25 Mexican restaurants in SA in the Express-News. This was ranked #2. He was on point. Great food, it was difficult to choose because the menu had many appealing choices. We had the guacamole (delicious bites of pork included), the red snapper grilled and served over plantains and three tostadas, one each with pork, chicken, and beef. All were excellent and we appreciated that the Cuban influence made it different than other Mexican places. They brought out a delicious chocolate cake with cinnamon for my wife’s birthday. The service was warm and responsive. It’s a small space and they don’t have their liquor license yet but you can bring your own wine. Literally the only thing I’d improve is to put some art on the walls. It was pretty bare and I was staring at a blank wall. We’ll be back.

This place is always a 10/10!!! The shrimp appetizer could really be the sole reason why I will always come back here. It's a must-have! The mojitos are also so good and fresh! Not too sweet, the fruit flavors really come across. Food wise, I went with the Tostaditas, which were amazing! The green salsa is very spicy but very flavorful. My mom had the empanadas & and again, they were delicious. Will always recommend this restaurant!

Paladar was fun and had an energetic vibe. The food was adventurous yet familiar and elegantly presented. Our mole and grilled chicken dish was very tasty but was heavier than expected because of the fried corn tortilla cake layers. After perusing the menu, many other items are also fried so if that’s not your preference for health reasons, I highly recommend the tuna, mango, and avocado appetizer. The tuna was perfectly seared and the flavors were bright with tangy Asian and Caribbean notes - light and refreshing but with a kick! Perfect complement to our heavier main course entrées.

In general it was a good night. It was crowded due to the day (Saturday). The waitress was excellent and the place looked cozy. The chairs are a little small but comfortable. The food was amazing and the desserts were unique. I would rate it as 4.7 out of five points. The only thing to improve is the price. A little too high for a small place with no buzz, I would say.

We have never had a single item on their menu that didn’t become a top 10 instantly. Food is outstanding and service second to none. Spicy is our preference and they can make the food mild to wild to your taste profile.

Ok... Very small place. Shrimp appetizer was 6 very small shrimp deep fried with half a lime on a bed of fried cilantro. They were not peeled. I ordered the red fish and it was very small. No liquor license yet so order Mexican coke and received 1/2 liter bottles. Table water did not have ice and was warm. My wife’s flautas were ok. Plantain tasted burned. Chips that came at beginning of meal are in tiny bowl and very hard. Not a good value at $80 for two people. I was still hungry when we left and we went to another place to finish the evening. Wish them the best. PS- pictures on walls have no pictures…just a hanging frame. Maybe a new style…
