   This was a special occasion as we went to Piccolo Buco for our daughter's birthday. Unfortunately, this experience left a lot to be desired. It started out with requesting silverware for two since we only had two sets at our table of four. That simple request was never fulfilled and we had to go forage it from a different table when our appetizers arrived. Three of our pizza entrees arrived together, however my daughter's request for gluten-free crust was not fulfilled. I have to put this on the server as the ticket clearly showed it was not entered as gluten-free. She isn't allergic to gluten so she just went with it. The last pizza did not arrive and after some time the server came back to inform us that there was a "screw-up in the kitchen" and the last pizza would be out in 3-5 minutes. Well that turned into another 10-15 minutes and everyone else was done eating. Not a great experience especially for a special occasion. Pretty sure we won't be driving 25 minutes to Piccolo Buco for a special occasion again. Might stop in if I'm shopping in the mall, but then again there are many other great choices too.

   Love the pizza at Piccolo Buco! The crust is fluffy and chewy, with a tad bit of crunch. Tip: they don’t have ranch for pizza since it’s an Italian Restaraunt, but we get a side of the creamy Italian dressing and the fluffy crust tastes amazing when dunked. We love that this place also accepts our Wine Club membership to Cooper’s Hawk so we can always get a bottle of wine for the table.

   We recently discovered Piccolo Buco and made reservations to have dinner on New Years eve. We were seated as soon as we arrived. The decor is urban contemporary and interesting. The room was alive with energy, but we were still able to have a conversation at a comfortable volume. Our waiter was great. We enjoyed the Ceasars salad, sausage red pizza, and the white carbonara pizza. We will be back!

   The food was pretty good (considering it’s the suburbs). The service was horrible. Our server forgot three dishes and overcharged us for one. The cocktails are sub par and they don’t have a great hard liquor selection. The place is cute inside but not really somewhere I’d yearn to go back to.

   We decided to celebrate our anniversary and NYE at Piccolo Buco in Oak Brook and we are glad we did! We’ve been wanting to try out this spot since it opened and finally got around to trying their food and experiencing their chill ambiance. We started off dinner with the Nduja pizza which was stellar. My husband ordered the Pappardelle with Short Rib and I got their Spaghetti Carbonara (I love Cooper’s gnocchi carbonara too). We already had our eyes on these dishes but decided to ask our wonderful server Ryan what he recommended and they lined up with everything we thought sounded great. Of course we ordered a bottle of Barbera to perfectly tie together all of these delicious and fresh flavors. Can’t wait to come back and try a main dish. Great date night spot!
