   We had a terrific meal last night. The gnocchi and chicken piccata were terrific. The gnocchi was like pillows from heaven, just like we had remembered. A real family feel there.

   My husband and I had incredibly fond memories of dining here 9 years ago - it was such a good meal that we came back a second night during our 5 night vacation in Hilton Head, and we’ve recommended it over the years to a number of friends who were traveling to HHI. We tried to return two years ago but they were fully booked during our visit. This time I lucked out and got a reservation for 5 but all they had available was the outside (tented and heated) seating. For starters, it’s not the same. The restaurant itself has such a warm, lovely vibe that just had not been even remotely recreated in their outdoor seating area which is a shame. The lighting could be more dim, there could be music, it could have a bit more of a “vibe.” It was very quiet out there and while it was warm with the heaters for such a cold December night, it just wasn’t the same. The service was fine, but felt impersonal and rushed. Our food came out SO fast - for a meal like this, we were in and out the door in one hour, and that was with appetizers and drinks. It was bizarre. (Our reservation was for 7:30, so not like it was an unusually late reservation and they were trying to get out of there.) The food is what i was so excited about because my memory was that it was phenomenal, memorable Italian food cooked with love. The dinner we had last night was good. I’d argue it was very good Italian food in the grand scheme of things. But it wasn’t special. It didn’t have those same flavors, the same delicateness to the pasta… the same “wow” factor it once did. It could have been any other good Italian restaurant. And that made me a bit sad!

   We were seated promptly and the service was wonderful. The waitress was knowledgeable and very friendly. The food was delicious. Pasta was perfectly cooked as was the seafood arabiatta and the chicken francese. Enjoyed our meal!
