Prairie Star Restaurant and Wine Bar at Santa Ana Golf Club has offered an unforgettable dining experience since 1986. Housed in a renovated 100 year-old adobe ranch house, the warmth and intimacy of Prairie Star is intoxicating. You may absorb the NM Territorial atmosphere of handmade adobe walls, kiva fireplaces and full viga and latilla ceilings while enjoying awe-inspiring and sweeping views of the golf course and the Sandia Mountains.

Our culinary team masterfully creates stunning Contemporary New American cuisine with global influences and Executive Chef Myles Lucero changes our menu seasonally to reflect the time and freshest ingredients at hand. Each dish is carefully crafted from the finest ingredients, locally sourced when possible, and organic, sustainable and fair trade items preferred.

Prairie Star serves prix fixe menus on major holidays, and you can find details at prairiestarrestaurant.com. We are closed Christmas Day and New Years Day.

We’ve enjoyed nice meals here before. Had family in town for the holidays so decided to try their New Years Eve pre fixe menu. We will likely not be returning here after this bad meal. The restaurant seems not to be able to handle the large food events well. Appetizers came and they were all a little different even though we all ordered the same. Some plates had almost no sauce. Second course, gumbo was not served with white rice so there was nothing to help cut the heat, and the puffed rice gave a crunch that you don’t except in gumbo, it wasn’t good. Some ordered the smoked beef medallions and the smoke was so strong it completely overpowered the meat taste. Their sauce on the plate was also overwhelmingly smoky. The duck was okay but not rendered down enough. The risotto with it was pretty good. The elk ossobucco was okay but super rich plate. We only ate about half of it. Visually it was a plate of big brown mess with a brown lump. We only had water to drink and didn’t get any refills throughout the meal. The service from all the staff was lacking even though they weren’t full, there were open tables all around. For dessert, the lemon tart had good flavor but as soon as you cut the crust the curd spilled out all over the plate and the meringue just sat like an awkward lump on top. Waiter said that’s how the chef wanted it presented. The chocolate crème brûlée left a lot to be desired. It was not smooth and creamy as one would expect. The top layer felt like it was broken and the bottom was like eating raw brownie dough. The sugar on top was too thick to really enjoy a bite of it all together. We were so disappointed, and embarrassed that our guests had such a disappointing dinner for the end of year celebration.

Overall great meal. Gorgeous view at sunset. Wine and dine is a fabulous value. Three of us at the table-both fish and steak were excellent.

Prairie Star is absolutely fabulous, it's small and quaint southwestern. The restaurant is on Santa Ana reservation, which overlooks the Santa Ana Golf Course and the Sandia Mountains. The food/menu is diverse and offers a nice variety of entrees. The menu is fairly priced. The Prairie Star is a must for upscale dining at a fair price. We celebrate our wedding anniversary yearly at the Prairie Star. Roger, the manager, returns confirmation reservations quickly and manages a top-notch restaurant. Wait staff are pros!!

Christmas Eve prix fixe meal was a very good option for us this year since we opted not to cook...it was just the two of us this year. There was a nice selection for each of the four courses. We ordered the local bison short ribs and halibut for our main courses. The flavors were very good and it was seasoned just right. The wine suggestion of an Argentinian Malbec went well with the bison. We also tried the Tractor Milk Mustachio Stout which was also very nice. The cappuccino was below average, though. We really enjoyed the fact that the acoustics throughout the restaurant allowed for conversation with our normal voices and we could actually hear each other! This has also been true every time we dined here. Prairie Star offers good food for good value, a nice ambiance, and good acoustics, which makes it a perfect place to share a meal with your loved one, family or friends.

We got married at the Prairie Star (17) years ago and every year on our anniversary we have a wonderful dinner there - just the two of us. Rebecca planned and orchestrated our wedding. And as hoped for - She's was there last night as usual making sure everyone was being treated to a 5 star experience. Our waitress Francesca is also an experienced server and her knowledge of the food and drink menu was right on the money -plus she is a delight to meet. We had the best anniversary evening yet. Superb food - atmosphere only surpassed by the graciousness of our hostesses. You'll enjoy your time there as well. THANKS TO ALL!

We returned to Prairie Star after a long hiatus, and found it just as wonderful as it had been in the past. Superb food, cheerful and attentive service and a quiet, comfortable ambience made the experience all we had hoped for and more. Bravo, Prairie Star!

Wonderful evening last night. The duck soup & grapefruit salad starters were on point! The entrees were equally delicious...swordfish was the best ever, lamb shank was so tender & mild-but add the red chile jus & flavor pops! We shared a Paso red & a Chard to go with. Dessert was a flourless chocolate torte-so good! Thank you for a wonderful date night!
