Thomas Pynchon in his 1973 work "Gravity's Rainbow" - “Our history is an aggregation of last moments, ...” It was such the loveliest ever experience, spending my last morning at “The Ben” in West Palm Beach, Florida, at “Proper Grit” for just the most fabulously wonderful day’s beginning! While it might be a celebration all about their amazing food & breakfast, & about the bright sunshine streaming in through floor to ceiling windows. At the same time, it isn’t, as those things are not at all the most important story… It is more about the people & the smiles of the beautiful staff, who made every moment, into just the loveliest memories, to be carried inside always. The hosts Ruth & Novia were endlessly lovely, brightening each day with their happy care & sincere sweet greetings. Juan was my waitstaff during this as well as many other days. Perfectly fantastic, warm, authentically enthusiastic & friendly, he made every morning bright, transforming ordinariness into magic. Maybe for some, Disney is the happiest place on earth, … But saying true things out loud, I have discovered that feeling at “The Ben” & “Proper Grit” in their incredible food & more importantly, their beautifully lovely people!

The seafood stew was excellent and the rice suggested by the waiter was the perfect complement. We were also offered a custom desert that was superb. Iced creme brûlée cappuccino made with creme brûlée liquor. Our waiter was both attentive and sociable.

Proper Grit is such a lovely restaurant & experience!! The food is wonderful & the atmosphere one that is endlessly enveloping & comfortable. The staff are amazing, Juan in particularly was fantastic & always welcoming. Everyday that I visited Proper Grit was fabulously beautiful.

Terrible service. Rude waiter . Took an 11:30 reservation then when we arrived said they were closed til noon. Left at 12:35, food never arrived. Will not go back

Service was OK ,slow. food was warm at best. Ambience was good restaurant was clean. I probably wouldn’t recommend to my friends though.

My wife had the fish stew and I had the bone in cowboy ribeye It might be the best meal I’ve ever had. Our waiter Daniel was excellent and the ambience with all the plants and decor was just what we like. We will definitely be back

We had the best time at Proper Grit. Shannon, our server, made our party of 10 feel so special and made a huge effort to make sure we had a great time. We will absolutely be back!

Great experience, 2nd time at Proper Grit and this was even better than the first. Shyla, our server, was fantastic! So friendly, so attentive, and timely checkups on how we were doing, no ill timed interruptions like are so common elsewhere. Food was delicious and well prepared, very flavorful. Atmosphere here is amazing as well. Highly recommend for any occasion.
