Accessed from the High Street and through a glass lobby, Quod restaurant with its terrace and bar, forms the hub of the Old Bank Hotel. Formerly a banking hall it was transformed by owner Jeremy Mogford to become Oxford's largest and most successful restaurant. Stylish, contemporary design describes the space which houses an amazing collection of young British art. Sandra Blow, Craigie Aitchinson and Gary Hume adorn the walls. There is a spectacular terrace where diners can enjoy a morning coffee, the superb value two course lunch or a cocktail.

With its large windows looking onto the famous colleges, Quod is the perfect stopping point during a walk of the city.     Superb - food, cocktails, wine, service. We went for the set menu - we couldn't believe how good the options were and 3 excellent courses all for £31.50. We 3 all chose the curried cauliflower soup (a deliciously smooth veloute), one calves liver, one fresh Cornish plaice, and a superb steak. Treacle tart and Panna Cotta with plums for dessert, delish!

    The place itself is pleasant, with a good atmosphere. However, the food was unremarkable. We opted for the set menu, which included an anchovy salad with boiled egg and gem lettuce, as well as pork belly and sole for the mains. The salad lacked both elaboration and presentation, the pork belly was overcooked, though the sole was well-prepared. Service charges are included in the bill, which I found unnecessary. While many people praise QUOD for its “posh” reputation, I didn’t find anything particularly special about it—though it is certainly popular among “posh” British patrons.
