Interlude, 1 star in the MICHELIN Guide Great Britain & Ireland 2020, is a contemporary restaurant set within the historic woodland gardens of Leonardslee Estate. Jean and his team are committed to providing each and every guest with a place to interact with nature and eat from the land in an unexpected food journey.
An ever-changing set menu draws inspiration from our listed gardens, produce grown in Interlude’s own vegetable gardens or surrounding land and by local farmers where organic principles are employed.
We strive to build our pantry through patient harvesting and preservation, taking food back to basics and showcase old traditional produce where possible. Our unique cuisine is built on old and new techniques and we endeavour to show enormous respect for nature and seasonality by bringing our gardens to life within the restaurant.

Exceptional food that keeps faithful to the estate’s produce, plants and animals. Wines from their South African wine yard were wonderful. Highly recommend this.

16 courses takes too long. It ended up feeling like a marathon to complete them

I am a professional forager and so to discover your menu is around wild food from the gardens was an added bonus for me!! All delicious except for the aged beef; I found it too strong and off putting although it was like butter to cut and clearly once a lovely bit of meat. Not another person in our dinning room or anywhere which I found a little disappointing as the restaurant lacked atmosphere but this is not your fault. Wishing you all the best as Leonardslee holds many fond memories.

For such a new restaurant we were amazed at the service, outstanding food and the knowledge of the food and wines. Fine dining at its absolute best. The South African slant on locally foraged ingredients was brilliantly executed. The South African wines we were recommended were excellent value for superb wine. I wish them every success.
