Sushi was good, but the restaurant has a very odd, funky smell inside. We asked to move our reserved seating outside which was unavailable so we stayed to dine inside. Would come back again but would make sure to sit outside next time.

Lovely setting. A great place to have a meal before attending the nearby opera, orchestra, or Florida Studio Theater. A very friendly and knowledgeable waitress and the food was excellent. Among other staples, some really creative sushi that was of the best quality.

It was a fantastic experience, but to be honest, I would have rated it higher, but there was a really bad smell inside the restaurant, downstairs and upstairs, and it really was a distraction from the overall enjoyment. I don’t know if it was a cleaning supply or just a foul odor from The bathroom, but it really was a bit gross.

dinner here on Thursday night at 8 o’clock with my son and my husband, the location is lovely, beautiful old building, the service was very good, we ordered poke nachos, which were our favorite thing, my sushi roll was one of the best sushi rolls I’ve had in a long time, the chicken buns were pretty good, my husband loved his octopus, the egg rolls were just OK, the cheeseburger buns were underwhelming. The interior of the restaurant seem to be struggling with an identity crisis, kind of looked like they took an over the top somewhat tacky old disco, and tried to make it into a classy restaurant, and it didn’t quite get pulled off, the bathroom was quite dirty. they did tell me they’re converting the original bar upstairs into a speakeasy type location, which sounds really cool. We’ll definitely go back and check that out. overall we enjoyed it. the food was pretty good, but it felt like some things received a lot more care than others, the overall vibe was just a little off, could’ve been the night, will give it another try. definitely a good sushi spot if you like interesting rolls with good quality ingredients

Best sushi in Sarasota, and other menu items are also excellent. It's actually a very diverse and interesting menu with many choices for anyone not a sushi fan. The ambiance is delightful, especially the outside courtyard. Highly recommended!

Separate chopsticks would be nice rather than me having to break them apart. Also, cloth napkins rather than paper would upgrade the experience. At their prices and location this should be a no brainer.

Great place for sushi. Service was right on and not too loud. Outside would be nice when it warms up. We sat inside downstairs. The upstairs looks nice too. Highly recommend.

My husband and I dined at Rose and Ivy last night and had a very pleasant surprise. We were seated promptly and the manager was very accommodating, seating us inside (despite the fact that we changed our mind having asked for couryward seating in the reservation). The remaining service was also prompt and professional. And the food was excellent! We had an order of gyozas with delicious sauce and delicate flavors. We then had the three-fish sashimi roll that was wrapped in cucumber rather than rice (yum!) and the sashimi for two. This was best sushi I had in Sarasota. I should also mention the bourbon cocktail, which were probably the most delicious cocktail I had anywhere. The ambiance was also very pleasant. The decor is cheerful and not over the top, the tables are close together but not noisy, and the clientele was very diverse -- ranging from older people to families with small children, to young couples on dates. One of the best dining experiences in Sarasota, we'll definitely return.
