Our first time there and it was great. Service was a bit slow but only because there were large parties enjoying lunch.

I just hate writing bad reviews and I was just going to skip this except maybe I can help someone else. We were a party of4 that came for dinner during Christmas Market weekend. It was energetic and the staff was very friendly. That's where the meal fell short. Out of the 5 things on the menu, they were out of4. The server then came to the table and said they were out of the last item (hanger steak) and were substituting it a rib eye. I'm not really sure what was going on but quite strange for a restaurant to be sold out of everything. We then learned the oven had broken and they couldn't cook the food. They did comp us with a chacuterie board but in the end I got a glass of wine and a salad. My husband got two mixed drinks and the rib eye. Total bill was $131.00 with tax and tip. SHOCKING!! Too much money for too little quality of food. Perhaps it'll get better with a new oven but we're going to try other places in town.

Hi Lauri, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback, and I’m truly sorry for your disappointing experience during such a busy time. Unfortunately, you visited us on a particularly challenging night when our oven broke unexpectedly. We worked hard to adapt, but it’s clear that the situation negatively impacted your meal. Running out of menu items is not the norm for us, and I completely understand your frustration. While we tried to make amends with the charcuterie board, it’s clear we didn’t meet your expectations. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are already taking steps to prevent a situation like this from happening again. If you’re willing, I would love to speak with you personally via phone or email. Thank you again for your honest review—it helps us improve.

I’ve never been in a restaurant that “ran out” of so many menu choices. We arrived for our 7:30 reservation at 7:15 and seated around 7:40. Our initial drink order was slow but acceptable. App orders were taken and put in , then we tried to place our dinner orders. Two of our party ended up with only salads because the restaurant was out of pork tenderloin, short ribs, chicken, steaks, and something else. We finally got our food after 9. My personal meal was the fish special with fish burnt in the outside and raw in the middle served on cold lumpy grits. The excuse was too many large parties - amazing surprise because everyone had reservations - , new menus ( for sure the menu was NOTHING like the one online with fewer options) Our waitress did her best. It was obviously a kitchen and upper management problem. But we will never try this restaurant again.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, and I’m truly sorry for the numerous issues you encountered during your visit. It’s clear we fell far short of your expectations—and our own standards—and I want to sincerely apologize. Running out of so many menu items and the long delays you experienced are unacceptable, and I completely understand your frustration. While unexpected challenges in the kitchen contributed to these issues, it’s ultimately our responsibility to plan appropriately, especially with reservations on the books. We understand that we may not have the chance to welcome you back, but if you’re willing to give us another opportunity, I would love to speak with you directly via email or phone. Thank you again for your honest review—it helps us learn and grow.

This was the first time at this location, though we have dined at the affiliated groups restaurants several times with always good experience. Perhaps this is new staff trying to figure their way out... but overall experience was disappointing, although a few highlights of our server, Becca, and the hostess/asst mgr? were top notch and helped keep this from a one star rating. To begin, It seemed to us, the bartender staff could have been more welcoming and attentive, though we know bar traffic can be high on a Friday night..., and the bar top was dirty, they acted like it was an issue for them to clean it when we asked... our drinks came, were good, but the staff ( 3-4 of them... pretty large staff to be serving such a small area) congregated on the opposite end of the bar seeming to socialize with each other a... we could not get their attention and neither could other patrons around us who walked to the end to the bar to get their attention to pay their bill... same thing happened with us... the staff seemed to be more interested in socializing with themselves... we finally left our cash payment without receiving the bill and tip under our glasses and went to our table .... I ordered the Duck a la orange which was excellent, accompaniments were cold , my wife ordered the steak au poivre medium ( recommended by the "chef" as med rare) , it arrived rare,,cold deep purple, and cold vegetables accompany... we asked to send it back to cook it medium... they sent it back.it came back medium rare- red cool, with burnt broccoli,,, asked it to be sent back a second time, ... the third time it arrived almost medium ( who does not know how to cook steak ? ) with the broccoli ends all burnt off and just the stalks remaining.. steak cut poor in our view and should have been better... Thank goodness, our server , Becca and the hostess , were accommodating and reversed the charge for the steak. Thank you, Becca and the hostess for helping w/ this bad experience.

Dear James, Thank you for sharing your experience with us. While I’m glad to hear that Becca and our hostess provided excellent service and helped improve your evening, I sincerely apologize for the many areas where we fell short during your visit. It’s disappointing to hear about the challenges at the bar. This is not the standard of service we aim to provide, and I will address this immediately with our bar team to ensure they maintain focus on our guests and deliver the welcoming experience you deserve. I’m also truly sorry about the inconsistency with your meal. This is not acceptable, and we will take the necessary steps to ensure this doesn’t happen again. I would love to speak with you directly via email or a phone call and offer an opportunity to have a better experience.

I made my reservations with Open Table and viewed the menu through their website. The menu looked great. I had made a couple of selections that I was looking forward to ordering. The problem is Open Table takes you to Stella’s Southern Bistro’s menu. That said overall the food and ambiance was pleasant.

A decent meal with barely adequate service. Certainly not what I have come to expect from the Stella’s brand. I’ve eaten at the Bistro dozens of times and have never been anything but impressed. Tonight our food was good but the restaurant was clearly understaffed. Our server had our table and a large party of 17. We didn’t see server after we placed our order and someone else (bartender maybe?)stopped by. We ordered the appetizer sampler that had pimento cheese and was supposed to have boiled peanut hummus. The sampler came out without the hummus and with very little to place the pimento cheese on. 2 beignets and some pork rinds. I asked about the missing hummus and was told that they didn’t have any and that it was discontinued. It would have been nice to know that part of the appetizer was not available . At $25 for an appetizer I have a reasonable expectation that I will get what I ordered. The entrees were good and I have no complaints about them. However, our dishes from the appetizer, our first drinks and from dinner were piled up on the table and were never cleared. My expectation of a Stella’s restaurant is that the food will be exceptional, the service outstanding, and that I will leave feeling that I can’t wait to return. Tonight they failed to meet that expectation. Food was good yet incomplete. Service was poor, probably due to understaffing, but if you can’t staff to your standards then close, or limit seating. I love Stella’s and encourage anyone to try the Bistro in Simpsonville or the Brassiere on Verdae Blvd. I hope that the Roti version of Stella’s will soon meet those standards. One more minor complaint, this was our anniversary dinner and I added this on the reservation. It was not acknowledged. At Stella’s Bistro we have always been greeted by the hostess with happy anniversary and then given a free drink or dessert. There was no hostess tonight it seems. Hopefully just a bad night and not a decline in Stella’s brand.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. First & foremost, I want to sincerely apologize that your anniversary & your overall experience did not meet the high standards you’ve come to expect from Stella's. It’s clear that several aspects of your visit fell short. The missing hummus from your appetizer & not being informed in advance was an oversight on our part. I’m also truly sorry for the service issues. While understaffing is never an excuse, I recognize how frustrating it was to feel neglected on such a special occasion. We greatly appreciate your loyalty to Stella’s. Your feedback is invaluable, & I’ll be sharing it directly with our team to help us improve. If you’d be willing to give us another opportunity, I would love to speak with you directly via email or phone.

We went to Sunday brunch. The restaurant was decorated beautifully for the holidays and was cozy, comfortable and so pleasant. We chose an espresso martini and White Christmas Dreaming for our cocktails, both picture worthy and delicious. One entree selected was chicken and waffles which were tasty and plentiful. We also had salmon, burrata avocado toast. It was full of flavor, and would definitely order again. Our hostess and waitress were efficient, friendly and welcoming. We will definitely return to Rotie.
