Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Saman at Carambola Beach Resort offers a mixed dining experience. Guests praise the "excellent food" and attentive waitstaff, with dishes like the "amazing pasta with vodka sauce" and well-prepared wahoo. However, service speed can be variable, and some find it pricey. Embrace "island time" for a relaxing visit.

The service was wonderful. Timely and professional. Disappointed in the main Dish. Lamb was ordered rare and came out very well done. Salmon also Overcooked. The soup Was delicious.

I’m giving a five star review because I knew what to expect. Food was excellent, both times we dined with Saman. It’s a little pricey compared to your standard steakhouse or seafood restaurant, but you’re on an island and procurement is difficult. No problem. Wait times both times we were there were very reasonable. 30-40 minutes for the main course, drinks and bread for the table were immediate though. If you go here, you need to have time to just relax, be on island time, and enjoy yourself. If you want bar food quickly, walk 20 steps to the Flamboyant restaurant and eat there. We ate almost every item on the menu, all was prepared very well. The pasta with vodka sauce was amazing and just what we needed after a week of eating out. The cut of filet wasn’t quite up to the highest standards out there, but at $50 on an island with no local beef, it certainly isn’t claiming to be the best of the best cuts. Of the four filets we ordered, cooked between rare and medium, all were cooked exactly how they should be with good sear and minimal grey layer. The wahoo was prepared and plated very well, and I have zero safety or cleanliness concerns about eating fish here. The waitstaff is very attentive, not over-committed to too many tables, and they’re very helpful sharing suggestions of local places to visit outside the resort.

Not worth the money. Service ok. Menu is limited and the half chicken was more like a half pigeon. Expensive for what you get. The location is beautiful, such a shame.

I don’t know where to start it was so horrible. Waited one hour and 20 minutes to receive a cold bowl of soup (was to be hot). Received a Shrimp cocktail with 5 tiny shrimps, tried ordering various thing on their disgraceful menu only to find none were available because they can only order for the kitchen very small amounts of food because they only have a few small coolers. Asked for a pasta dish al dente ended up with over boiled fettuccine covered in some nondescript pasta vodka sauce. They said they don’t have coffee. The property is operated by Aimbridge under a Marriott franchise. I suggest read trip advisor before considering this abomination of a restaurant. I almost forgot asked for salt and received a tiny weeny bag similar to the kind when you order coffee out and you are given a plastic utensils from a small coffee shoppe.

2.5 hours until the main entree was served on a warm plate with the food ice cold.

We understand that staffing may be difficult and that times may take longer. Nevertheless the ambiance, the food quality and the waiter were excellent.

Everything was late- seating, food ordering, food service and to top it off the food itself was basic and badly plated. I thought that after Marriott took it over there would be some positive changes. NONE so far.
