Why they're an Icon

From the OpenTable editors: Regulars keep swinging back to Selden Standard for small plates and craft cocktails in a cool industrial space that USA Today named one of the best restaurants of 2024. Local and seasonal produce shows up in dishes like charred octopus from the woodfired oven and seasonal fresh pastas like sweet corn agnolotti. Catch the show at the chef’s counter or hang in the back patio lined with flower murals.

Second time here; (first time back in 2019 & my memories were of great food & reasonable pricing). Definitely not so impressed this time. Small menu, high prices, just adequate tasting dishes. SORRY!! Just Not Impressed this time. WHY DOES EVERYONE HAVE TO CHARGE AN ARM & A LEG TO DINE IN THEIR RESTAURANT? My chicken dish was $45!! & was subpar tasting! $5 coffee. Needless to say, won’t be back. (Our waitstaff, Allison was the BEST, though)

Great food! The mushroom appetizer was delicious! The walleye was perfectly cooked ( waitress brought me some bread to sop up the sauce when everything else was gone, lol!) Sticky toffee pudding was awesome. Service was excellent. The evening was paced so you could enjoy each course. There was thought put into this, so you’re enjoying an evening with food, not simply gassing up. The background noise was a bit much for us, so maybe the target demographic is a bit younger.

This is my favorite restaurant in the world: I come from Boston to eat here whenever I can. Tonight my favorite dishes were the walleye with spaetzle, grilled romaine with anchovies, grilled haloumi with watermelon, and coconut and lemongrass sorbet. It was my first time to sit in the room off the the right and it felt a bit unfinished, like it needed some wood or more art.

Despite making my reservation on the wrong day, Selden standard was able to accommodate our small party and it was a very important business dinner. I just can’t thank them enough. They were absolutely amazing!
