Having always been at the heart of Valley life, the 17th century Shibden Mill Inn was originally a corn and spinning mill, before being converted into a country pub in 1890.

Today’s visitors are welcomed with warm hospitality to enjoy first class dining against an inviting backdrop of open fires, low beamed ceilings and a cosy bar. Eleven individually styled bedrooms make comfortable and luxurious retreats, epitomising boutique country style and featuring lots of thoughtful touches.

And if you can drag yourself away from the Inn, there are wonderful walks from the doorstep and world class attractions within easy reach. For a spot of retail therapy or a cultural fix, Halifax is a 10-minute drive and Leeds is just 30 minutes away.

My wife & I both had the sirloin steak cooked to perfection & well worth the money.. Not happy about being asked for a 10% option service charge as it makes you feel obligated although we opted out of this we did leave a tip of our choice. It’s okay if your meal is on your firm or not too expensive but having wine & drinks puts too much extra to you bill.

As always, fantastic service and excellent food in lovely surroundings. Food would have been 5 stars also, except for slightly overenthusiastic seasoning on the main dish (Featherblade of beef with celeriac ouree and jus) which was otherwise delicious.

Absolutely delicious food: every component was perfectly cooked and each flavour balanced with the others. The service was efficient and attentive. We were sat near the open fire which was a lovely touch on a cold winter’s evening.

Great ambience in a stunning building, beautifully decorated and maintained inside. Couldn’t fault the staff and service, very friendly, attentive, and helpful. The Sunday roast was gorgeous and we can’t wait to return! Also enjoyed a coffee in the lounge area after our meal to finish off the experience which was a lovely space to relax.

First of all when I booked our reservation I was informed the my table would be in the restaurant, which was not the case. When we arrived we were shown to a table what I can only say was shoehorned into a space directly opposite the main entrance in the corridor between the bar and restaurant, prime position for being knocked every time somebody walked past, my wife who is petite in stature struggled to get to her seat! Although our food was good, my duck dish was cold when it arrived at the table and although this was mentioned to the waitress, all we got was a thank you for telling them. Not even a free coffee as an apology for serving. £34 main course cold. Disappointing for a restaurant listed in the Michelin guide. In summary very expensive for a gastro pub, cramming tables in to make a few extra quid.
