This Shun Lee was my favorite place in NYC. We took 11 of us for my granddaughter’s birthday. The food was terrible. The waiter talked us out of getting enough food for the table. His recommendations were terrible. Even the Peking Duck was bad and had hardly any meat in the prepared pockets. The wonton soup was tasteless; Half the spring rolls were burning hot and the other half were ice cold. The Captain did nothing to help. At the end of the meal , we asked for desert. The waiter told us they had none; he told us not to eat the cake - that is was horrible. They didn’t even have ice cream for the children. It is no longer a place for us to go - so sorry about that, it really was the best.

We love Shun Lee Palace. It has become a pre Christmas tradition for our family to go see the tree and then come here for a lovely warm meal. It’s full of families celebrating and the food is delicious.

Unfortunately I have to give this iconic restaurant A very poor review. I've eaten here in the past and enjoyed tremendously but I have to say this was Awful. I was told by others that it's not good any longer but wanted to try anyway. Ribs.. ok Moo Shu Chicken not good .. shrimp fried rice terrible and shrimp came out cold which says it's not fresh but frozen.. atmosphere tired.. sorry.

When we come into the city, we try to come here, especially during the holidays because it’s quiet, the food is excellent and the service is top notch. The scallion pancakes are the lightest I’ve ever had. During the holidays, you can try to go to one of the restaurants that are decorated for Christmas, but it’s noisy and the food for the most part is sub par, but at Shun Lee it’s a,ways good.

Unobtrusive, professional waiters, classy decor, tables spaced nicely, comfortable seating, varied menu and well-prepared, delicious food. We will return next time we are in Manhattan.

We had the most lovely meal with Alex, who served every dish with humor and warmth. My family has been coming to this restaurant since the 70s and it is our favorite place to get Chinese in the city.

Very expensive, overcooked Chinese food. Disappointed. Maybe west side is better, but haven’t been there awhile. I don’t mind a dated atmosphere..but when the food is meh..it’s just a shame.

Always dependable. Very good. Fresh and well prepared. I do wish they had at least a small dessert menu.

Best Chinese food in NYC and wonderful service. A bit pricey, but along with the tab you get that great ambience—low lighting, artifacts on the wall. My favorite dish, the baby eggplant, was perfection served with brown rice. The cold sesame noodles were killer. My fellow diners raved about the fried rice. Orange beef was hot and generously sized but had a bit of an off taste. Almost $300 for the three of us, but $90 of that was wine. Yeah, we’re boozers.
