   What a lovely experience. I’d bought coffee & a toasted sandwich through the front street nook before but had no idea what was awaiting me inside! We were suggested your establishment for a Christmas catch up & I didn’t realise it was somewhere I’d been before until I walked up to the front door. The food was just divine; well presented & so well cooked. To add to the complexity of our visit we had a coeliac in the group & you dealt with our needs without a hint of issue. Thank you. We couldn’t fault any of the three courses we had & are already talking about when we can come back to try what we didn’t order last night! The Riesling we had two bottles of was also delightful & very reasonably priced. Your package really did offer exceptional value for such amazing food & location. Thank you for being one of the few coastal culinary destinations that actually exceeds expectations. We loved you you & will be back with more friends!!

   We had lunch at Silica to celebrate my friend’s 40th birthday. With such a beautiful location and high expectations, we were hoping for a special experience, but unfortunately, the day left us disappointed. The restaurant wasn’t busy, with only three tables occupied, yet the service was incredibly slow. One of the waitresses spoke so softly that it was almost impossible to hear her, which made simple communication frustrating. Throughout the meal, no one checked in on us to see if we needed anything, so we constantly had to flag staff down for basics. A significant issue was with the drinks menu. I ordered a mocktail, only to discover it contained egg white—something that wasn’t disclosed on the menu. For anyone with allergies or dietary restrictions, this could have been a serious problem. The food itself was a mixed experience. The entrées were enjoyable and hinted at the restaurant’s potential, but the mains were bland and lacked flavour, leaving us underwhelmed. It’s a real shame because Silica’s location is absolutely stunning, and it has all the ingredients to be an exceptional dining destination. With more attentive service and consistent quality in the food, it could easily live up to its potential. Sadly, this lunch didn’t deliver on that promise.

   $70 for a two course meal, we expected a higher quality for this price. I would have been happier walking out the door paying $50 for what was served. As the take away window opens into the restaurant, there were several flies circling our food which made the experience less comfortable. We asked to change tables but it was not possible. Service was slow and without enthusiasm.

   Love Silica, its our go to local restaurant? Especially for seafood. The only criticism is that we would like to see more changes to the menu or specials, as locals who like to eat our regularly we are too familiar with the menu.

   Best dinner in Kiama so far. We went on pasta night and the orrechiette with prawns was delicious. We also had amazing oysters and wish we had ordered more after eating them. Looking forward to going back one day to try their regular menu.

   We were a table of 10 people, and we could not have been happier with the Silica restaurant. We chose several different meals, and they all arrived at the same time which must have been a challenge for the kitchen, but very much appreciated by us. Everyone said how much they enjoyed their meal, and the service could not have been better. We had travelled from Sydney to celebrate the 95th birthday of our friend who had moved to Kiama. It was a long day for us, but it was so enjoyable, it was worth it. If you are looking for a restaurant that has nice views, excellent food and friendly service, then you will not be disappointed if you choose Silica.

   Very good local restaurant. Always consistently good food but as a local I would like more changes to the menu or seasonal specials.
