   Tomatoes were tasteless and not ripe. Steak was tough and under cooked. My meal was not up to the standards of an expensive restaurant. As a wine collector I refuse to pay an $85 corkage charge. The wine list was pedestrian and over priced. The cocktail, bread and corn were very good.

   First time at Steak 48 and was a bit underwhelmed. The food was good not great. The fried lobster tails were delicious. However, that’s where the compliments stop. The Chilean Sea bass lacked flavour and presentation and the ribeye was flavour less as well. We had 4 different waitresses resulting in long wait times for follow-up and drink refills. Every new waitress started with the previous waitress was on break. Service was more that of a cocktail lounge than steakhouse.

   The food is top notch, no doubt about it. Glad the reputation of their AZ parent carried on to CA. The only thing is that the place is very noisy. There are some areas of the restaurant that are quieter. Sit away from bar area.

   This was my third time here, last two times were outstanding. The food as always was excellent. The service attentive but the waiter just had a weird attitude. Maybe an off night.

   Our sever Pat was fantastic and very attentive. All in all a wonderful experience, and we will continue to go to this restaurant. Food is amazing, but you better be ready to eat, because portions are large.

    We’ve been to Steak 48 a few times now, but each time the whole experience goes down hill. Our server seemed scrabbled because she has a very large party that sat next to us. She ended up taking our order then having to take the large table’s order immediately after so we waited a while for our food. She didn’t check on our food quality until everyone was done. Our steaks were rare and cold in the center, we ordered medium (good thing we could cook them a bit more on the plate). The table next to us were extremely loud. It was 20 guys who had been golfing all day. We were out for a nice family dinner and couldn’t hear our conversation, but could hear the guys conversation! As a local Del Mar resident, we were excited by steak 48, but seeing how the quality keeps going down each time we go, it won’t be on our list of local restaurants for long.
