About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Good for groups
Succotash PRIME is a progressive perspective of classic Southern favorites. James Beard Award winner Edward Lee brings his Korean roots and Southern repertoire to a soulful Southern Steakhouse menu.

SUCCOTASH is named after the classic dish that has been a longstanding staple of the Southern table. While many know “Succotash” when they see it, the dish has been interpreted, modified, and passed from generation to generation for centuries. Our “Succotash” is special to us and we invite you to experience the South from our point of view.

My colleagues and I planned to go here for happy hour. Very rude staff. Especially the bartender on the second floor. Not even remotely polite. We were seated but treated so poorly that we immediately left and went to the bar next door. Terrible service and attitude. I’m not very hard to please either.

We had a very nice dinner, and the food was quite good. Our one complaint was that they are skimpy on offering their fried green tomatoes -- which come only in a salad -- and we had to keep asking for more. This proved to be confusing to the wait staff.

A bit disappointed here. Small portions and big prices. And nothing was absolutely delicious. It was good, but not worth it in my opinion. We ordered the cornbread app which was 2 small bites of cornbread. The fried green tomatoes "salad" was def more of a salad than tomatoes. They were very thin, not like I've had them before. I got the catfish which was tasty. My partner had a ribeye that needed more seasoning. Sides of old bay mac and garlic mashed potatoes. They were good, but just not worth the money at all and couldn't serve the table of 4. Our server though, was stellar and very sweet. I likely won't go back.

Party of 5. Adequate service but on the slow side. All appetizers and sides were great but every entree was mediocre and the chicken & waffles was overcooked.

Our waiter was attentive. The fried green tomato dish was very good. Ask for the buttermilk dressing on the side. The shrimp and grits were edible but not great. The grits were too wet. It was like a grit soup with 5 shrimp and a few Parmesan crisps. I did like the addition of the crisps. Drinks were good and the old bank building is attractive. I would be willing to try again.
