A total disaster all round - we had booked this a few weeks before as a special night out with our daughter and husband - both couples celebrating engagement and. Valentine’s. We rang to say we were running a few minutes late - the right thing to do - to be told ‘you can be half hour late - one table had not finished yet’. We duly arrived at correct time and it was total chaos - at 8.50pm we were still waiting (standing on the steps) for a table - only to be told be a very abrupt waitress that did we know the kitchen closed at 9.00 pm !!! A very helpful couple at nearby table said they had been there for 2hrs and no food had arrived at all !! Needless to say we were not going to be fed there that night- no apologies no offer of a drink - nothing. We whizzed across the road to Trio who were amazing and helpful and we got fed. Will be risk going again - the jury is still out.

Unfortunately we had a disappointing experience at Sushi and salad in Saffron Walden. Upon arrival we had to wait at the entrance with other customers for longer than comfortable. Staff were all at the till and it took a considerable amount of time for anyone to come and assist. Straight away I also noted the odd atmosphere with no music. We were seated next to the till. Within a few minutes of sitting a queue inside started to develop. This went the whole length of the restaurant. This queue remained with the same people for around 40 minutes. Understandably these people became agitated and annoyed and we could hear customers complaining to staff due to this. It was immensely distracting but I tried my best to ignore and enjoy my meal. But the food took a long time to arrive and came out in dribs and drabs even when my partner and I had ordered the same thing. We had to ask for eating implements once food served as well as napkins as no one had laid them out. Staff were visibly stressed and we could hear their conversations about this. They were all over the place and no one seemed to have control of the situation. To top it all when we went to pay they said they could not accept our gift card as they either didn't know how to do it, didn't have set up or needed to call head office etc. my partner paid and said he would use voucher for lunches. He tried to do this the following day. But was told he could lovely use for online orders. Fine. He left and tried to order what he wanted. When he had issues finding what he wanted he went back to restaurant for assistance. He was unhelpfully told it wasn't available online and nothing they could do. This was seemingly by the manager. My partner by this point was becoming upset as our experience had this far been not ideal. Unfortunately it is unlikely now we will return again despite it previously being one of our favourite eat outs in saffron Walden. I feel for the staff as it clearly is not managed well currently.

You have new staff all be it from one young lad and lady who have been there for a while who are very good , the lady came in at around 6 ish at which point she started to take orders etc , but the new guys no so good , the young guy serving needed more of where things were but he was good , the other manager type well no comment ,the other issue is there was at one stage 8 people standing between tables waiting on take aways which were not ready the kitchen was overwhelmed , while we were trying to have a nice Valitine’s dinner 🤦‍♂️ We love coming and we love the food but it needs better organising or your loose your regulars and new dinners ,

It's a shame when your favourite restaurant lets you down. We've been here a lot and generally left delighted. For a Valentine's Day special lunch you would expect superlative service despite the restaurant being full. As it happened, our order seemed to get lost and we had to wait for an hour to get served. Once glass of complimentary wine did't seem much to outweigh the inconvenience as we watched customers who had arrived after us get served snd depart. The waiters were polite through this embarrassment but we did not want to hear excuses about short staffing.

We had a range of dishes and it was all delicious - even for a non sushi fan. The spicy udon noodles are so good - as are dumplings, pork belly, squid and I always really enjoy the salads. Service was friendly and fun and we really enjoyed our evening.

Nice decor and service was good. Starters were nice but main dishes were awful. Took one bite of tuna teriyaki and left it as it was undercooked and tasted bad. Noodles were greasy and had a horrible after taste that kept repeating on me all the way home. Left most of my meal and wouldn’t bother coming back here. Very expensive and below average quality.
