The Ahwahnee Hotel offers a unique dining experience amidst Yosemite's stunning backdrop. Despite ongoing renovations and a buffet-only menu, guests praise the "spectacular dining room" and attentive staff. The prime rib is a standout, and the ambiance remains charming. It was wonderful to be back in Ahwanhee Dining Room! We were seated promptly for our 5 pm reservation at a table close to the pianist and buffet. Our wait staff warmly greeted our group of two couples and explained the buffet style dining, offered to open the bottle of wine we brought (there is a $36 corkage fee), brought our other beverages, delicious tomato basil soup and rolls. He and his assistant promptly removed plates, glasses and silverware after use. They kept our glasses filled and regularly asked what we needed. Following the meal and coffee (Peet’s), they brought two decorated cupcakes on a plate with “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate! The food in the buffet was delicious and plentiful. I enjoyed the Ahwahnee seasonal salad and the Caesar salad along with the hummus and fresh vegetables. For the main portion of the meal, I ate small servings of the prawns, salmon, prime rib, couscous, macaroni & cheese and broccolini. Mary’s chicken was always served. For dessert, I selected petite servings of pumpkin mousse/pudding, double chocolate brownie, coconut “bar” and a lemon bar. We were welcome to go back for more of everything, which made the $63 tab seem quite reasonable. In addition to the spectacular atmosphere of the Dining Room, the pianist was amazing! He played with such passion and love for his music. Although he played a variety of music, he added his own personality to them which made them so memorable, especially “Canon in D”, which my husband requested for me. We’ve stayed in Yosemite Valley for 35 years to celebrate our December anniversary and this year’s Ahwahnee Dining Room experience was our favorite!

$63.00 for an all-you-can-eat buffet of very mediocre food is not a bargain by any stretch. The table service was fair to poor--our server brought our wine halfway into the meal and only after we asked. The room is beautiful, the hotel historic, and the piano music was lovely, but these are not enough to compensate for a fair to poor dining experience. We have been going to the Ahwahnee for many years but won't be going back . I truly feel that we were ripped off.

Due to "staffing issues" only buffet was available. Food was good, service fair. Piano music was nice. Can't beat the location or beauty of the whole place.

We almost canceled as a couple of staffers elsewhere said it wasn't very good or worth it. Most of the food was ok, albiet not hot.It was buffet style, several items didn't have name cards and most of the cards had no ingredient or allergen info. Half the dishes were room temperature. The tri-tip was overdone and dry on the outside and M-R on the inside. The guy cutting the meat needs lessons on meat slicing.

The breakfast was disappointing, no flavor, and not high quality items or ingredients. The restaurant is very nice, and might’ve been worth it, if all the views weren’t blocked by construction.

The hotel is beautiful, but the dinner buffet is really substandard. Especially for the price. Go for the eye candy, NOT the buffet!
