Been here for lunch, and it was so very, very good!! Came for their highly anticipated Thanksgiving Dinner, and it was mediocre. Scallops (served one full scallop, and one that had been cut in half) were lukewarm and gritty, and pork belly dry. Risotto also served lukewarm, and after the sparse sauce was absorbed, much of the rice was tough and dry. The salmon was quite good, though. For $75/person, and based on how very good lunch had been, I expected a much better experience. We’re supposed to join friends here for dinner in a couple of weeks, and we just suggested going elsewhere.

Certainly one of Boise’s best. Excellent food and service and their specialty drinks are first-class.

We dined for my birthday and it was our first time here. Everything was wonderful. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff, and amazing food! An after dinner drink in Tiner's pub in the back was just our speed. It did not disappoint one ounce and we look forward to next time! Thank you!

This was the first time my boyfriend and I had had dinner at the Avery (we’ve previously enjoyed brunch there) and the first time our buisness partner/friend has been to the restaurant. Our sever was really kind, knowledgeable, attentive and accommodating. One of the first distinctions she made when serving us was finding the vegetarian/vegan (myself) from our reservation notes. From there the level of service was consistent with the chef coming out to share some dishes he could do to accommodate my dietary restrictions. This was especially appreciated as a big part of the reason I had never had dinner at the Avery was the limited vegetarian/vegan options. The dinner was amazing and the desserts were exceptional. I also appreciated no hesitations when our buisness partner brought in his service dog. Overall? Amazing experience:)

The artichoke appetizer that used to be do great was disappointing, the dressing was way too salty. We both commented on this. I asked for some bread and was charged $5 for a 3 inch piece that was grilled 😳 It was a bd celebration & there was no comped dessert offered. It is typically something that done at many other restaurants around town. Overall disappointed & felt overcharged.

We had the steak tartare (not our favorite), the oysters (really good), and the sole meunière (DELICIOUS). The service was great, the ambience perfect for conversation.

We were told to place our order in full and that they would stagger the courses. However, we were served our salad in the middle of our appetizer and our main entree during the salad course making it very awkward to manage the space on the table let alone enjoy the courses.

We truly love The Avery and always look forward to Chef Cal’s exceptional creations. This visit was no exception in terms of culinary delight. There were just a couple of small details that slightly dampened the experience, but they’re easy fixes, and overall, we had a very enjoyable evening. First, I had noted my wife’s birthday on the reservation, yet when we arrived, the server asked if we were there for any special occasion rather than simply wishing her a happy birthday. This felt like a missed opportunity for The Avery to add a personal touch that would have made her feel celebrated right from the start. Additionally, while we appreciated the thoughtful offer to take my wife’s coat at the beginning of the meal, retrieving it was less smooth. After finishing dessert and coffee—and even after paying the bill—we had to track down the host to get it back. It would have been nice to have the coat returned to us proactively as our evening wrapped up. Spending over $400 on dinner and drinks for two, especially for a special occasion, we expected a bit more attentiveness from the staff. Despite these minor issues, we enjoyed our time and look forward to returning for the incredible food and atmosphere we know and love at The Avery.

To start off we sat at the bar as we waited to be seated. Bartender was top notch and knew his stuff. He kept giving us samples as he made others drinks. We were seated in a booth. Tables are so tightly laid out you have to excuse yourself with the other patrons just to get in and out of your seat. Wait staff was polite and attentive. I love good food and the price as long as it is good is not a factor. In this case the food could have been the best I ever had and I would not go back. The restaurant was full our entire meal. My wife and I are siting next to each other in the booth not across from each other, next to each other. We found our selves loudly talking in order to hear each other. I could hear conversations 3 tables a way from me. With the level of noise in this establishment I think it bordered on hearing damage. The noise made the meal untenable. We skipped desert and headed for the door.
