---The Berghoff Restaurant is a Chicago landmark, serving German-style cuisine and culture since 1898. One of the oldest family-run businesses in the nation, now run by the fourth generation, Pete Berghoff. Today's Berghoff menus have evolved to add newer, lighter, and more contemporary dishes, but it's still the same old Berghoff, down to the famous root beer. In December 2018, the Berghoff family opened Adams Street Brewery, aptly named after the street they have called home for over a century, to nod to their brewing roots and commemorate the restaurant's 120th anniversary.

    The Rueben and brat sandwiches were excellent. The pulled pork sandwich was also very good. The potato pancake appetizer was small but delicious. Great, fast service and nice spacious dining room. Highly recommend!!

    Always a wonderful experience at the Berghoff. Besides the excellent traditional German food (sausages, spaetzle, sauerbraten), we had their homemade diet root beer and a their seasonal Altbier (a rare find). Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Prices are quite fair, especially for the Loop.

    Food was good, dad corn beef wasn’t warm. Service turned horrible. Overall disappointing as this was my dad and son birthday dinner out. I probably won’t be going back as we had been told the reason for the long wait was they were busy, but I seen 11 other customers who arrived after us get served. The situation was not handled well.

    Fine ambience and very good service. Food was good: Schnitzel and salmon very nicely prepared. Potatoes (with the salmon) lukewarm and not impressive but veggies quite good. Apple Strudel OK for American fare but underwhelming compared to Vienna - a bit disappointing for an expressly German restaurant. Overall tasty food and positive experience, would come again.

    Went before seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Food was great. Goulash, Jager Schnitzel, a beer flight, Berghoff Root Beer and salted caramel cheesecake to end the night. Can’t wait to get back!
