We drive an hour to eat here as regularly as we can. This is hands down, SB’s BEST restaurant. The food is delectable, the service is unmatched and the ambiance is perfect. If you haven’t eaten here, do yourself a favor.

Thank goodness we were upstairs because the noise level downstairs was intolerable! Although we told our waitress, we were not in any rush we felt very rushed through our meal. We were trying to have a catch-up conversation and she kept coming back literally every 30 seconds to take our order. Once the food started coming, the main courses were served almost immediately after the appetizer courses. There was absolutely no need to be so rushed with the service.

This restaurant has a great potential but food is a hit and miss. Beets dish, French onion soup and fish crudo were really great! 👍 However, sea bass with beluga lentils was not thought through and comes cold. I had a similar dish at another restaurant in central coast and it was greatly executed with crispy skinned fish with moist and perfectly done flesh. However at Black Sheep it was dry, overcooked and tasteless. Lentils were very plain. Lentils are plain by nature and need some inventive strategies to make them palatable. The whole dish came cold and after a second try - I returned the first version- it came slightly better and warmer but still subpar. I live in SB and definitely would come back to give it another chance. My husband and stepdaughter loved their l'Oignon Gratinée.

I had the fixed price menu which was wonderful and reasonably priced. The food was absolutely wonderful along with the service. We had a cute window table and the experience could not have been better! Would highly recommend and would return! This was already my second trip! I brought somebody who eats at many high end restaurants and she was very mpressed!

Excellent food, lovely space. The tables were nicely placed so as not to be on top of each other, which also helped with the noise level. We met the owner and he is passionate and highly involved. Full bar coming in January ‘25

We LOVE Black Sheep SB Brasserie! Food is great and service is awesome. In the winter months we slide in for their Early Dinner 3 course Prix Fix with 20% off all wine. We had an amazing Samasura Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills that I want to find for my cellar. Need to plan our next visit.

Very nice evening and good food. A bit loud for our party but we managed. Staff all friendly and energetic. Nice wine selection. Very tasty Coq au Vin. Decor is nice, though we took a minute to speculate about improving the acoustics with the addition of some soft materials somewhere

The Black Sheep is a gem! We had the chef’s tasting menu, which is a four course meal served family style and includes 9 different dishes. From the amuse bouche to the chocolate silk tarts and crème brute everything was delicious! The atmosphere is welcoming, the service was attentive and the meal was an outstanding value. This is a great spot for a special occasion or just a nice, relaxed night out. Highly recommend!
