Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
The Boston Ale House offers a lively sports bar ambiance with "generous portions" and "excellent crispy batter" for fish & chips. Guests relish a diverse menu with standout items like the "house made veggie burger." While live music and attentive staff enhance the experience, some service inconsistencies exist.

My experience was fair. Food was alright and have never ordered toast and only got 1 slice. My cocktail wasn't a cocktail. Tasted like water and juice. My friend's espresso martini sucked. We returned our drinks. The plus was the band, which is why I came here. I don't plan to go there again.

The Boston Ale House was good. I went with a buddy and we sat at the bar. I had a cranberry margarita and my friend had a captain and diet and both drinks were good. For food, I got the tuna poke bowl which I really liked. My friend had the salmon and asked for it cooked medium rare but he felt it was over cooked. I’ve had the salmon before and didn’t specify the temperature and it was good with the “default” temperature. There was a football game on the many TVs, some huge, so it was a pretty lively crowd. Bartenders were good and friendly enough. It’s a big open space with large windows looking out at Center St. in West Roxbury. It’s a nice place. Overall a fun night and I would definitely recommend it.

Exceptional food and reasonable prices. Live music on Saturday nights. Our server was fantastic.

We go here regularly - the food this time was meh. The chowder was very thin and steak tips were overcooked. The service was pleasant but food and drinks took quite a long time to come out considering it wasn’t very busy. I’m sure we’ll be back but it can be hit or miss.

This restaurant had a nice ambiance, however I was unmoved by the food. The food had great presentation but the food was pretty bland all around. We had four members in our party and neither of them were moved. The only thing I really enjoyed was the dessert otherwise I would pass on this restaurant option in the future.

This last visit was a mixed bag. The Old Fashion cocktails were so dilute that we sent them back (I forgot to check if we were charged for them). Beer list is decent. The salmon, fish and chips, and pickle chips were very good: the nachos and potato skins less so. The clam chowder was ok, but the clams were on the tough side and it had a slightly fishy taste. Service was slow that night (a Sunday) and the football games were on at top volume.

Was there with a few Pittsburgh Steeler Fans last Sunday. They accommodated us with their great service and the food was fabulous. We will be back for untelevised Pittsburgh Steeler games in the future.
