The year was 1943, and Jim and Alice Wimmer decided to take a big risk, buying a small existing roadside restaurant known for its char-broiled steaks. How fitting that in 2018, the restaurant's 75th anniversary year, the third generation of Wimmers, Amy Wimmer, takes the helm from her father Jeff and his wife Jane, bringing her own adventurous spirit to the Del-Bar, the same kind of spirit she so admired in her grandparents. Rich History • 75 Years & 3 Generations • Award Winning Cuisine While flattering comparisons to steakhouses in Chicago and New York are regularly made by visitors, Amy Wimmer still cherishes this restaurant, her family restaurant, as one-of-a-kind.

The food was phenomenal. The service was excellent. They were extraordinarily busy, which was expected but we were sat immediately. The only negative I have is they did not do anything or acknowledge the birthday request on the reservation, not that there was room for dessert, was just hoping to surprise my boyfriend.

Our dinner was amazing! The service was outstanding! One thing to note is all servers wait on you. Your server takes your order and waits attentively on you. But, as other servers walk by your table, they will stop and pick up plates, fill your water glass, etc. Wonderful atmosphere with exemplary service. We will be going back in the near future.

Been going to the Del-Bar for over 30 years....my in-laws first ate there in the last 1940's....it is still, hands down, the best steak place in the Midwest. Great service, perfectly cooked steak...never fails to impress.

Del-Bar is always outstanding! Usually get the boneless ribeye, but tonight tried the chicken cordon blu, and it’s probably my new favorite! Get baked French onion soup!

We always enjoy a visit to the Del-Bar. The recent remodeling only increases the level of enjoyment. It's such a warm and comfortable environment. The service and the food are outstanding.
